My league has a very unique scoring system but I really like it.

QB's get 3 points for every 50 yards over 100 yards. 4 for pass TDs.

RB's-WR's-TE's get 3 points for every 25 yards over 25 yards. All non passing TD's are woth 6.

So if a guy has 46 yards rushing he gets 0 points. If a guy has 140 yards passing he gets 0 points. It basically makes the best players even more valuable.

This is GREAT stuff...please do post your scoring system.

I am trying to work out a more 'balanced' scoring system to try to equalize the top 30 performer and have it include players from all positions somewhat equally.

My system is similar to a couple above...but a little different:

QBs- 25yds/pt, TD/6pts

1.0 PPR, decimal scoring 10yrds/1pt, TD/6pts

Return Yards (20 yards per point)

THOUGHTS:

I have used this scoring system for about 2 years, but think the QBs are too inflated and the non-pass catching RBs and TEs undervalued. I also think that the Return Yards artificially inflate a handful of WR/RBs (bumps up guys like Breaston, Hester, MJD (used to...)

QUESTIONS:

1. How do you help equalize the QBs? Go to 5 points/TD (from 6)? 30 pass yards/1 point (from 25)?

2. Does anyone use sliding scale PPR (1.0 for WR, 1.5 for TE...etc.?)

3. Other ideas on how to help out non-pass catching RBs? Bump up value of Rush yards or provide bonuses for rush yards? Bump down PPR to 0.75?

will post the leaders shortly....

atypical? or just plain awful? Why multiply everything by 5? Does that league just need to feel better about scoring by having huge scores?

I just don't see the point in it since almost everything (besides yardage) is just 5x bigger than standard scoring.

It is what it is. It's been in effect for fifteen years. It's not built on making things "5x bigger than standard". There was no standard when it was created.

The basis of the system is 1 point for each yard from scrimmage. At 30 points per TD, the system does not over-reward TDs. Scoring system provides a good balance between yardage and points, IMO.

It has nothing to do with a need to feel better by having huge scores. Everybody plays against each other each week. Unless there's a tie, somebody loses and somebody wins. At the end of the year, there is only one team left, despite all them there high scores.

Tackle heavy IDP returner dynasty league:

standard kicker scoring....all points apply to all positions

DB - J. Wilson (274), G. Wilson (222), Weddle (194)

The scoring was designed to make the top QB's, RB's, WR's & LB's on equal footing. The top 25 is usually littered with WR's & LB's, with a few QB's & RB's thrown in. DB's haven't finished in the top 25 in either of the last 2 seasons, so this current ranking is atypical.
