Who replaces Amendola at WR (1 Viewer)

It has been confirmed that Danny Amendola is going to be out awhile with a broken collerbone. Is there a STL reciever worth owning given that he is out at least 8 weeks?

Brandon Gibson? Givens? Quick?

@PFF When Amendola went down led to increased role for Chris Givens. On fiel for 80% of Rams passing plays. Was 38.5% heading into game.

I have little interest in owning any receivers on that team, but I would probably roster Givens over the rest. Brian Quick may get a shot, but the fact that he's been used so little so far suggests that he must not be "getting it". If any rookie receiver had an opportunity to earn a shot, it should have been him.

it looked like givens last night. he's an obvious downfield threat with his speed. he and bradford need some time to build a rapport though.

Steven Jackson. I'm assuming STL is going to forced to run more now whether they like it or not. How effective it will be is a whole other issue.

:goodposting: The way Bradford was throwing the ball at times, the only solid receiver start might be a fan in the 3rd row.

Hopefully Amendola is back sooner than later, but I would rule out Quick. Gibson - Givens probably th emost relevant. Kendricks may get more looks as well.

Stats are misleading

Bradford was 7-21

-There were 5 dropped passes (on accurate passes)

-one WR ran the wrong route (WR stopped instead of continuing his route. Sam led him properly with the ball)

-a tipped pass at the LOS by a 6'8 DE

-one INT where he had zero time and forced it

-one overthrown on a deep ball where the WR was forced out of bounds. The pass looked like it would have been on target

Bradford is pressured on most plays and his WR's seldom get separation. I don't think Joe Montana would have success in the Rams offense currently

Side note on Amendola... yikes:

FOX's Jay Glazer reports Danny Amendola's dislocated clavicle could have been life-threatening, and that the Rams do not have a firm timetable for his return.Yes, life-threatening. Amendola's clavicle popped in instead of out, coming dangerously close to his aorta and trachea. Amendola had to be sedated by the Rams doctors so they could pop his clavicle back in and assure it would not "dislodge" again. Per Glazer, the Rams don't have a concrete timeline for Amendola's return because it is an extremely uncommon, perhaps unprecedented, NFL injury. It still appears Amendola will play football again in 2012, however.

Steve Smith ?
Why did Smith not see any targets in week 4? I have a hard time believing that if he's healthy he's not the most talented WR on the team. He was catching over 68% of his passes from Eli a few years ago.
I thought the same thing. Anyone aware of any injuries with SS?
He was a healthy inactive last week. Can't get targets if you're not on the active roster.People need to forget about what he did with the Giants 3 years ago. Different team, staff, and apparently a different view of his value to the team.

Don't see how those two sentences fit together. I think we all realize that this is a different team. No one is expecting him to replicated 2009's situation and production. Obviously Bradford is not Eli and no one on this team resembles Nicks... But why ignore his proof of talent when trying to figure out who should/could step up when a possession receiver goes down on his current team? Smith has proven to be a very efficient and productive when playing that role in the past. IF he is fully recovered, he should be a great fill in.

From the SLPD:

>>>The most obvious relationship that we need to keep an immediate eye on is between the young, high-profile quarterback and Givens, the rookie speedster from Wake Forest. It didn't take Bradford long to understand Givens' potential during training camp. Even when the rookie wasn't getting any reps with the first unit during preseason games, he kept flashing his deep-threat ability on the practice field. Bradford would pull Givens aside after practices trying to get their timing right on those deep routes. Once the regular season began, Bradford and Givens would break way during a lull for the offense in practice and keep getting their timing right.

"He's so fast you have to really get the ball out in a hurry," Bradford said. If Bradford hesitated even for a split second, Givens would simply blur out of frame, essentially going so fast with that 4.3-second speed that he'd be too deep down field even for an arm as strong as Bradford's. But in recent weeks, they seem to be clicking. Givens has only four receptions, but he's averaging a stunning 28 yards a catch, including two over 50 yards.<<<

>>>Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest: I’m struggling to understand why I don’t hear more about the Wake Forest wide receiver. He’s a little bigger, and just as explosive vertically as Kendall Wright. Just as importantly, Givens played to his speed on almost every snap. He showed dynamic acceleration on vertical routes, especially with free access off the line. He was both deceptively and explosively fast. He went from zero to 60 in a heartbeat. There were a couple of negatives, of course. He wasn’t as effective as an intermediate route runner; his explosive movement did not always translate to quickness in and out of breaks. The larger issue was his hands; at times he fought the ball and struggled to make routine catches. Based on my evaluation, I don’t feel Givens should make it out of the second round.<<<
