Who to target in a TD only league (1 Viewer)

Parmcat

Canada: Beer, Bacon and Beavers
OK, so I sold my soul last year to try take the thing down, and fell just short. In doing so, I now pick very late. (4th round, 3 keeper league)

In my projections, these players should be available in my spot.

TD's only, with extra points for TDs over 25 and 50 yds, bit no opther performance points:

Leon Washington

Carnell Williams

Ricky Williams

There is always the deeper players Like Huggins or maybe Hillis (Vulter RBs are coveted in this league)

Of the first 3 listed, how would you slot them, and what sort of TD projections would you put on them

Thanks

Parm

I have been in a td only league since 89, my premise is that you have to be on the field to score catching the guy that plays less and may go off for the long td is a real gamble. So my opinion is that Carnell will be on the field the most as a full time starter, Ricky will get a fair share of touches. Washington if I was sure was going to get a lot of work could be the first one but I just don't know how his role will shake out. Honestly though, I think Hillis make score the most tds out of everyone you listed. If you can take two get Hillis and Caddilac.Carnell WilliamsRicky WilliamsLeon Washington

There are still TD only leagues?

I'm very sorry to be a Richard here, but come on, do these relics still exists?

I would rank them as follows:

Carnell Williams

Ricky Williams

Peyton Hillis

Leon Washington a distant 4th....very distant.

I love the TD only format. This is the 17th year with 11 of the 12 orig owners. In real football, you win by scoring TDs, not by running for 250 yrds or passing for 500 yds. You still have to punch it in.Thanks for the response though.

Of course they do I have a dynasty league entering its 21st season. Just because something is old and has tradition does not mean it is not fun like the Kentucky Derby, the Americas cup and the Iditarod (sp?) Sure nascar is more popular these days than horse racing but if fantasy football td only is the history and classic sport. Td only is the good ole days of ffootball. Where you can sit in the bar and see when your opponent scores on you instead of having to pack a calculator to and a iphone to calculate that you need 40 yards from your TE Monday night to win by two tenths of a point, good easy fun.

You guys were way nicer than I would have been. I hate people that think their league is so much better because of their differing rules. 1 of my 3 leagues is still a TD only for no other reason than tradition, it's always been that way, and it'll always be that way!

although I hate when people try to tell others how their league should be run or what scoring system is best, I still think this is B.S. To use one of your examples, the RB that goes for 250 yds may not score himself, but how likely is it that he did not help his team? did they not score points because he simply didn't "punch it in"

In reality, there is no system for fantasy football that fairly compares real football to fantasy, that is because real football is an ultimate team sport where your weakest player has more to do with your level of success than your strongest. this is what makes football so great, and what also makes fantasy so great as you can still enjoy an individual player on a bad team. either way, arguments for or against certain types of scoring based on how "real football" exists are crap. don't stoop down to the level of those that dislike your scoring system, because you are both wrong, and look stupid to anyone that actually understands "real football"

Well then don't be one. Been in a league since 1989 and we've kept the same rules as we had back then and since it was pre internet it's TD only. All of us are in multiple leagues so we felt like keeping one league with old school rules. It has it's pluses and minuses with the best being you can watch games and know who is winning without having to run to the internet or grab a calculator. To answer the question I like Ricky and Hillis above Cadillac (don't trust him to stay healthy) with Leon a distant 4th.

Thank you for the wonderful insight. When I grow up, I hope I have all the wonderful insight you have rained down on us.

Folks around here are pretty sensitive to having their league settings criticized. I played in a TD only league last year and didn't like it as much as a normal league. I understand maintaining all of the original settings in an old school Keeper League since you can't change the rules once the keepers have been set, but otherwise I don't think I'd join another TD only league.
