Who was the last White running back ... (1 Viewer)

I can't think of how many times I've seen a conversation start out with "Hahah boy those negroes sure can run the football better that us, we white folks are slow... and you know what... we CAN'T DANCE!" and then have it turn into "Haha boy those black people never contribute anything to culture or science, us white folk are SMART and CULTURED, lets go create some great works of art and advance humanity."
Seriously?
Yep. Pointing out possible genetically-determined physical differences between blacks and whites can reinforce and/or serve as a proxy for making assumptions about genetically-determined mental differences between blacks and whites. It's too bad, but there's a long history of both.

I think the correct answer is Mike Alstott and the question should be "Who was the last decent white running back?"

People are discounted Alstott saying he's a fullback but Csonka (Kiick and Morris at HB) and Riggins (Emerson Boozer, Joe Washington) were pretty much fullbacks themselves.

Also, let's not forget Ed Marinaro.

I was referring more to the "I can't count how many times..." part.

Merril Hoge was a pretty decent back with the Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Hoge in the tenth round of 1987 NFL Draft with the 261st pick overall. He became a key member of the offense and led the team in rushing and receiving in four of his seven years. He is one of only two Steelers to rush for more than 100 yards in back-to-back playoff games (the other was Franco Harris). Hoge was named the Steelers' Man of the Year in 1989 & 1990, and was named to the All-Madden team in 1989.
