Who was your first fantasy pick ever (1 Viewer)

Jerry Rice... Worked out very well... He got tackled by that fat ###clown warren Sapp, blew out his knee, and was done for teh rest of the year.... thats okay though, because with my second pick I took jeff blake... who was similarly horrible...Yes, its a learning experience. I've done homework ever since, and I've won four championships in two leagues...

Kordell Stewart 3rd overall the year he was supposed to be the First Michael Vick...I quit keeping up with my team in week 5.HERD

1991, picked Randall Cunningham at 1.02 in an 8 team league based on yardage only, followed by Emmitt Smith at 2.07. This was the year that Randall tore his knee ligaments in the 1st half of the 1st game. In 1990 Randall had 3466 yards receiving, 30 TD passes, 900+ yards running and however many TD runs.
RC was my first pick ever, also. Same year too.

Wow, this thread has been dormant for a little while.

Anyways my first pick was in 1996... Chris Warren, Seattle RB.

BUST!!!!!!

1996 Steve Young - I Bruce - T Davis

I WILL NEVER DRAFT A QB IN ROUND ONE AGAIN. And probaly not in round two either! That's become the first rule of Drafting by Geo! :own3d:

I have no idea. It was around 10 years ago and I used Yahoo. I wondered "whats this fantasy football thing i was reading about." Haha I did 1 of their pre-ranked drafts and since I didnt know anything really about FF or NFL I ranked them from QB-DEF, not who I would want #1 and would be worth it. My first pick was probably some really stupid QB like Jake Plummer when he played for AZ.

My first ever draft pick was Terrell Davis with the #2 pick in 1996. The league (including myself) was made up entirely of newbies, but I was the newbie that won it all. A life-long obsession was born...

I took Brett Favre with my 1st pick 12 years ago and I've been a Shark ever since, except for that 4-10 season. :bag:

95'.......second overall and took Marino, should have taken E.Smith who put up 25 TDs. Watched as RB after RB went after my selection and realized fantasy football was driven by the RB.
Ditto and same year.Looks like a lot of us were enamored with the QB in round 1. Lesson learned until Manning had his monster season and I took him in the 1st round the following year in 1 of my leagues. Lesson over.

I recall that it was Eric Dickerson Rams. ( I also know that RB Neal Anderson was a fantasy favorite of mine. I'd draft him high every season possible and sell him off in October. )

Yatil Green. Everyone just stared at me in disbelief as I was the only guy in the room to not know he was out for the season. That's how my dynasty career began.

Add me to this camp as well - can't believe I didn't quit right there and then

My first pick was Willis McGahee at 1.04. I already had Edge and J Lew, and they both had recovered to play at a high level, so I had no problem waiting a year on Thrillis.

Edited to mention I inherited a team.

My 1st pick was Elway (Marino was already taken), how come everyone went QB back then? Luckily I picked up TD later in the 1-player keeper draft and rode him to back-to-back championships.

I'm embarrassed to admit that my first pick ever was a rookie; he was just too good to pass up... Ryan Leaf. Yes, seriously. I sucked.

Priest Holmes, #1 in 2004.

He was great for the 8 games before he went down for the season. I didn't really understand the concept of handcuffing then but was real pleased that I had some guy called Larry Johnson who did ok for me :)

Beaten in the Championship game in my rookie year.

Much the same, when Yahoo started doing their Fantasy NFL in 1998. Although I do remember the pick - Brett Favre. No doubt we would have competed earlier, but as everyone knows, Australia only got electricity in 1998. :violin:

Man, it takes some massive cojones to admit that. :)

1998, keep 6 start up. first pick (#1 overall), barry sanders. second pick herman moore. third pick johnnie morton. total homer draft. saved by fred taylor and eric moulds. lost the title game, lost barry sanders. i'm sad now. :)

My first year playing FF was 2003 and I had the #1 overall pick - I picked Tomlinson and won the Championship ... not a bad way to start off my FF career

Ni

2000: Tim Biakabutuka :goodposting:

I was an expansion team and had little to choose from.

My first year was 1988 as well. My entire draft, in order of players picked:

1-1 Eric Dickerson

2-20 Curt Warner

3-21 Ernest Givens

4-40 Bernie Kosar (regreted this one, he got injured)

5-41 Ozzie Newsome :goodposting:

6-60 Irving Fryar

7-61 Mark Jackson :goodposting:

8-80 Jim Kelly :goodposting:

9-81 Gary Anderson

10-100 Tim Brown

11-101 Morten Anderson

11-120 NYG Def

11-121 ATL Def

12-140 Dwight Stone

Make it to the championship game, Lost to an owner with Cunningham and Craig. Still in that league, have won 6 championships but keep losing to that same dang owner.

My first year was, wow, just 2002. (I played football in high school and college and for whatever reason refused to watch or play, I was just sick of it. It was until I no longer played that I started becoming obsessed

This was a 10 team league, and my picks were autodrafted. As you can imagine, I struggled to a 4-10 last place finish.

1. (10) Randy Moss

2. (11) Peyton Manning

3. (30) William Green

4. (31) Michael Bennett

5. (50) Marcus Pollard

6. (51) Rod Gardner

7. (70) Ike Hilliard

8. (71) Philadelphia

9. (90) Bill Gramatica

10. (91) Duce Staley

11. (110) Tim Couch

12. (111) Curtis Conway

13. (130) Baltimore

14. (131) David Terrell

15. (150) Jay Riemersma

16. (151) Ryan Longwell

17. (170) Tyrone Wheatley

I've been much better since then :goodposting:

Dan Marino...didn't know what i was doing

also picked Chris Warren and Ricky Watters

it was enough to win the league my first year in fantasy football

1992

1.16 Steve Young

2.1 Jim Harbaugh

I was a football fan but had never heard of Fantasy Football. My brother called me to cover an open spot in a 16 team league as the last minute

Terrible start to the draft but I ended up going to the championship...but lost

I got a few good deals on Foster and Cobb.

I had some pretty good WRs too but I forgot their names.

1986 Dickerson RB Rams

1800+ yds and 11 tds

Also grabbed Rice in the 2nd (1500+yds, 15tds) and was well on my way to my 1st fantasy title.

1996 - Terrell Davis. We started a new league in college and only one person had played before. Followed TD with Steve Young, Jerry Rice and the rookie marvin Harrison.

ENded up running away with the title and havent won another since.

Priest Holmes as the 5th pick in 2003. He fell to #5 due to his hip surgery, then went on to score 27 TDs.

Of course the rest of my team sucked that year, but he won many games for me that year single handedly. Eric Moulds probably shouldn't have been my second round pick  I was so active on the waiver wire that year that by the end of the season I wasn't playing a single player between rounds 2 and 7.

My best fantasy picks were two years ago -- Peyton Manning as 3.03 and Tiki Barber as 4.09

Dan Marino '93 He broke his leg and missed most of the season.

Luckily for me John Elway was my backup and he had a career year.

My second pick was rookie OJ McDuffie.

I was a noob and a homer.

Jerry Rice with the 9th pick in 1995. I won the championship on a two point converstion by the running back for the Vikings that year...I can think of his name right now....and I got to watch my favorite player break the TD record agains the hated Raiders on Monday Night Football. Needless to say it worked out very well!

My 1st pick was Elway (Marino was already taken), how come everyone went QB back then? Luckily I picked up TD later in the 1-player keeper draft and rode him to back-to-back championships.
Because back then QB TDs were worth 6 and guys like Marino and Elway were throwing tons of them.
