I think its going to be Grossman I got him dirt cheap in a start 2 qb league, not expecting much.

I know. I just expected the Grossman hate to be stronger. Some do like Orton. Also, I expect some will really like a rookie. Hey, I was leading the Grossman bandwagon last year and am probably higher on him than most anyone. I hope he does start. Rex has the chance to be more of a fantasy factor than Orton.

Brandon Lloyd ran the wrong route.

In a teleconference Friday afternoon after he signed a one-year contract with the Bears, Lloyd was asked how the quarterback situation was explained to him.

``Rex Grossman is the starter. Coach Ron Turner and coach Lovie [smith] think very highly of him, and Kyle Orton, they think very highly of him also. I think that as a receiver, it’s really our jobs to make those guys look good and it’s their job to make us look good too. It’s just going to be a hand-in-hand relationship maybe I could say for all of us to get better because I think that’s really what it comes down to. We are really at a pivotal point in our careers where we really need to lean on each other and help each other out to really become what we want to become in this league.”

Oops. So much for the Great QB Battle of 2008. And we thought Grossman and Orton received nearly identical contract extensions last month with identical bonus money for a reason.

The Qb situation will be so predictable it's sad.

Grossman will start the season. Bears will give him about 11 games. Unless he has a total meltdown and gets pulled for Orton early. Bears will probably be looking at 4-7 at this point, and realilize Grossman is really a #2 QB in the NFL.

Orton will be put in hoping for a big turnaround with an "outside shot" at the playoffs. He will play solid mistake free ball while leading a 10 point a game offense. Once the playoffs is out of reach (3 games with Kyle) The Rook will get the ball for 2 meaningless games.

Bears finish the Season at 6-10.

Grossman will be the starter to start the 08 season.

What will happen after that? I figure, in order, this will happen.

1. Grossman will play well enough in spite of a crappy supporting cast to hold onto the job. No real FF value.

2. He will tank badly and Orton will step in.

3. Grossman will FINALLY play as well as we have seen him in the past. Meaning he will get his act together and Good Rex will shine. Good to Very Good FF value.

4. He will go out with injury within the first 4 games. Orton will step in.

5. Grossman will choke or go out with injury and [rookie] will start.

Grossman will be the starter to start the 08 season. What will happen after that...

is anyone's guess. I'd avoid the situation unless truly cheap in 2 QB leagues.

This situation is analagous to the girl who keeps going back to the guy that treats her like dirt (where Rex is the guy and the Bears are the girl). No matter what she says or implies pay attention to how she ACTS. The Bears are still in love with Grossman and will go down in flames to prove how "right" they are.
