Who will be the starting QB in Tennessee? (1 Viewer)

Dolfan

I suppose the most likely scenario is Volek is named the starter week 1 and, at some point in the year -- depending on how Volek plays and what the Titans' record is -- Young will get the chance to start.

If this turns out to be the case, would you target Volek late to at least spot start early on? He had some monster fantasy games when he started before, but those were obviously a different situation.

Does anyone like the chances of Volek and the Titans playing well enough to keep the job all year??

What about if Young somehow puts together a hell of a training camp and preseason and is handed the reins week 1? I imagine if Young is named the starting QB early on that he will be drafted too high to present any value

The Titans QB will put up monster numbers because the defense will be giving up a lot of points. Two seasons ago when Volek was lighting it up, it was the defense that lost them the games, not Volek. I hope theykeep Young on the sideline until next year or at least until like week 13 when they are completely out of the race and the season means nothing.

If you are right, then Volek should be great value..I don't think he is on anyone's radar right now...

Volek may be a great value. He was a little shaky last season but ALL of his wide receivers were injured. The Titans actually have a solid group of young wide receivers, a good vet in Bennett and two strong TE.

In a redraft, Volek might be a pretty decent #2, backup. You're right, he's not on too many radars right now.

With Givens, Bennett, a nice group of TEs, he'll put up decent stats, and I really don't see VY playing much this year.

ETA: of course the opposing D's will be putting 9 in the box to stop doughboy, that will help.

Guys I think TN is going to absolutely stink this year, and therefore they will be throwing a ton, but that really cant be such good news as youd think from a FF perspective. Volek has shown he can put up #s, but honestly....with Ds pinning their ears back week after week coming after him, is he going to survive? And at what point, after how many losses, will Vince get in there and take over. The over/under would have to be at around 8 games, but Vince will be worthless this year imo. He's young and needs time, and being thrown to the wolves late in his rookie year will have him looking like Eli a couple of years ago. Id avoid Volek personally, unless he comes at HUGE draft value. I dont see him making a difference down the stretch, but early on he could help given the right matchups.

It is still a possibility to bring in Collins - although the drafting of VY makes that less of an option - maybe that is what is holdingup the trade withthe Ravens - that it is contingent on getting a second option at qb

I've got Volek as the starter. He sat McNair two years for the HOFer that is Chris Chandler. If #3 overall pick McNair was sat for Chandler, #3 overall pick Young will sit for Volek.

Volek will be the starter and Collins might be brought in to be a good #2 guy. I really think the coaching staff wants to avoid being tempted and putting V.Young in early. Volek is not the most elusive or durable of guys. I don't think they want to be one injury away from playing Vince Young...especially early in the season. Believe it or not, the owner wants to win now...look at all the FA moves. Collins makes sense

The defense will not be as bad as the last 2 years. LBs will be improved with the addition of Thornton and Sirmon being 2 years from knee surgery . JAIL"PAC"MAN will be a year older. Chris Hope will bring a stabilizing force to the secondary and one of the 3 3rd year DEs will develop into a decent starter opposite Kyle Van

The Titans could move back towards Fisherball...pounding with "Doughboy" and hitting Wycheck(Troupe,Kinney, and Scaife) for first downs

I expect the Titans to get Collins once McNair is gone. Volek may be the starter in week 1, but if he plays at the level I expect him to, they'll be looking at starting Collins sometime in the middle of the season.

I agree, it's Volek. But...I have a different take. I think the D turns out much better than expected. Therefore, more ball control with LenDale, Troupe, and Givens (on short possession stuff) putting up good numbers.

Definitely in flux...

If McNair = Raven and the Titans don't add another QB, it's Volek (not Young)

If McNair = Raven but the Titans add someone like Collins, it's Volek most likely but no longer a foregone conclusion

Whether Volek stays on as the starter probably relates to how well the Titans play in the second half of the season. If they're completely out of the playoff picture, the team may try to accelerate Vince Young's development; but ideally he would be kept on the sidelines this year.

I disagree with you simply because I think TN wants to make sure Young gets plenty of reps, he's not going to get enough as the 3rd string QB.
