Give a couple sentence response on why you think your answer will be right. Let's not turn this into disagreeing with others' thoughts. Just post yours please.

Phillip Rivers

I think the SD Chargers will have the best record in football this year which usually brings some attention to his individual stats, especially to the qb. I think with the offense will be more in his hands this year and with Denver/ Oakland and KC being in his division I think he could put up some amazing #'s.

I think his QB rating will be the real reason for this award though. I don't believe his stats overall will be the best in the league. I think qb's like Brady, Brees, Manning and Rodgers could exceed his stats. However his passer rating I think will be one of the higher in recent memories.

Let's hear who you all think and remember we want to hear who you think will be not why someone won't be

Calvin Johnson. He's ready to explode. Whether its C-Pep having a year of football under his belt, and a better knowledge of their playbook, or Stafford pulling a Matt Ryan, I think better QB and overall offense leads to MVP type numbers. 16 TDs minimum, maybe 20+ Oh, and the lions will win at least 5 games.

NFL MVP?

Brady. And I'm a Pat hater. But it is what it is. No one's close.

FF MVP? LT.

Shoulda traded down and got him but took MJD at 2 cause that schedule was too juicy to pass up.

Aaron Rodgers. All of his weapons make it hard for him NOT to have an mvp type season.
X2
I gotta say, I have to agree. Rodgers is set to explode. Has the perfect storm on offense and as long as he stays healthy, I think he has a great shot.I think Brady gets Comeback Player of the Year, not MVP.FF MVP I think MJD if he stays healthy...

It's Brady and Manning as the runaway favorites. ADP is not far behind. Rodgers, Brees, Rivers and Warner are on the next tier. Everyone else is a bit behind them, IMO.

No way Calvin Johnson gets the award on a 5 win Lions team. Remember, we're talking about NFL MVP, not fantasy MVP.

I'll go out on a limb and say McNabb. I think the Iggles will have a very explosive offense this year and will be among the best in the NFL in terms of record.

Peyton Manning, I just think he's going to have a really good year. The best he's ever had.

Phillip Rivers is in an interesting pick, but it won't happen. He had a great year last year, and it was kind of not even noticed. Rivers would have to put up incredible numbers to be considered.

I'm going to go with the shocker homer pick and say Brian Westbrook. I think with all the offensive weapons the Eagles have acquired opposing defenses won't be able to key in on BWest as much as they once were and he'll put up career numbers, AND he stays healthy and plays all 16! I know, it's a long shot  pick but he's due!

Boy, the Aaron Rodgers bandwagon is chugging along nicely.

Great young QB, but it's surprising to see most of the responses predict him. He's quickly entering the, "so many people keep saying he's underrated that he's now overrated" zone.

Unfortunately for the "Rodgers for MVP '09 Campaign", the odds are really against that. The voting starts with Brady and Manning.

For a young QB to win it, they really have to do something remarkable statistically, probably win 11+ games, hope both Manning/Brady get hurt and hope that no RBs break any records.

Peyton's in the "I don't even have to win the division to win the MVP anymore" zone, so that's why I say Brady/Manning must get hurt for Rodgers to have a chance.

This is a very bad era for a young upstart QB to try to win an MVP. Possibly, the 2 greatest QBs that ever lived are still in their prime right now. 3 QBs from the 1st or 2nd best QB draft class ever still have many prime years left, as well.

I agree with this, which requires that I select someone not of this group...I'll go with my homeboy, Chris Johnson. (wishful thinking)

I think Rivers would have won MVP if the Chargers finished 10 and 6 instead of 8 and 8 (Brees - the same thing). That was the problem. Peyton won MVP last year because the other candidates had flaws to their campaigns (Warner was mediocre at the end of the regular season - Peterson fumbled way too much - Brees and Rivers' teams had non-winning seasons - Michael Turner only got half credit with the Falcon's turnaround with Matt Ryan). If Rivers puts up big numbers this season and the Chargers are 12 and 4 (which is very realistic) - then I can see if Brady has a mortal season.Brady is the overwhelming favorite to win MVP, though.

I'll throw Matt Ryan out there as a sleeper candidate.

If I'm actually betting on this, I'd have to go with Brady.

The winner of the NFC East....

I'd say the favorite is McNabb. They have a solid season, he's looked at favorably by everyone with the big brother role he's playing for Vick and if they make it to the SB while staying healthy, he'll be a strong candidate.

If not him then Romo. Romo finally gets Dallas to win in December. He loses his top receiver yet his numbers don't dip and finds a way to handle the pressure and gets the nod as QB of America's Team.

If not those guys, then Eli Manning. After having the best record in the NFL, this ball control offense was led by the NFL's top pedigrees.

I want Randy Moss to win it.
I want Brandon Marshall to win it, ain't gonna happen. For Moss to have a great yet, so does Brady. They both had great years 2 years ago and we all saw how the voting went down if that happens.Randy Moss is the best player in the league with absolutely no shot to win MVP.

Chris Johnson

He's going to get the ball oh-so-much-more than last year, run/catch and even throw (Fisher is keeping his Wildcat under wraps in preseason). Johnson leads the AFC in rushing on a 12-4 team, MVP stuff.

DeAngelo Williams in 2009

rare to be the fantasy MVP and the NFL MVP but he shouldve been both in 2008

Losing Haynesworth only costs them one win? That I don't buy.

Brees, and he should of had it last year over Warner.
The NFL MVP won't come from a last place team in this day and age. If your team doesn't make the playoffs, forget it.
Yeah I know but think about it. He had over half his team injured and he still comes yards away from Marino's record. Other than Victories which is a team stat not an individual stat, Brees out performed Warner in every area. But yeah he was on a losing team so that is why he didnt get votes. This year the team will at least be playoff caliber and if he repeats last years performance he is a shoe in IMO.

Jay Cutler after leading the Bears to a SB win - only because that would be the funniest thing that could possibly happen. :P
