Who will win?
Actually they will likely use a ton of 4 receiver sets with Stevens as a fifth. I don't think you can use ball control against the Bears until you've softened them up a bit. Expect a similiar game plan to that of the Super Bowl last year with a lot of quick hitters and slants then deep throws down the middle once they've got the Bear safties drifting to the sides. If Hasselbeck is on there is a good chance this will work but if DJAX and Hackett are both out the Hawks have receiver issues. Deon Branch>Hi. Please have a big game TIA.Seahawks will put up a fight but I don't think they will score enough points against the Bears D. I would expect a lot of rushing and ball control by the Hawks.

Not exactly what he had planned for New Year's!
What kind of aBears will get beat by 2 tds, it's gonna be ugly.
Triple reverse psychology. I'm fairly certain this worked for Rembrandt and the 1988 US Olympic women's speedskaters. What kind of aBears will get beat by 2 tds, it's gonna be ugly.are you?
I dunno... I think they tried that strategy last time they met - I don't think it worked so good. I really believe that ball control is their best shot. Wear Da Bears D down, limit your mistakes and take your shots downfield. Should be a good game.Actually they will likely use a ton of 4 receiver sets with Stevens as a fifth. The first time they played, the Hawks were without Jerramy Stevens, Shaun Alexander and Deion Branch was just new to their offense. The Bears will be seeing a much different offense this time around, but Jackson will probably be out for the game this time around.I dunno... Hopefully, not in a similar fashion to the way that Romo decided the outcome of his game.Bears should win this one.One way or another Rex Grossman will decide the outcome of this game.
GO HAWKS!
What two words are ominous for the Chicago Bears in the postseason? John Dewan's Stat of the Week™ January 4, 2007 They are not Rex and Grossman. They are Brown and Harris. In Chicago at least, Bears fans worry about which Rex Grossman will show upin the postseason. However, it has been demonstrated that a solid defense iskey in the playoffs, even more important than in the regular season. Pro-Bowl safety Mike Brown and Pro-Bowl defensive tackle Tommie Harris bothstarted the first six games of the Bears' season. The Bears only allowed anamazing 9.8 points per game in those games. For the next six games, withBrown out for the rest of the season, the Bears allowed 15.2 points pergame. After 12 games, they held the number one spot in the NFL in pointsallowed per game, but just barely. Then Harris was injured. The Bears playedthe last four games without Brown and Harris and they allowed 26.3 pointsper game. Now that is an ominous trend. With Brown and Harris out for theplayoffs as well, the defense is playing significantly short-handed. Portion of the Season / Points Allowed per Game First Six Games (with both Brown and Harris) / 9.8 Next Six Games (Harris playing, Brown out) / 15.2 Last Four Games (both Brown and Harris out) / 26.3 New England and Baltimore finished the season giving up fewer points thanthe Bears, but the Bears did have the best defense in their conference by asignificant margin. The Bears will have cornerback Charles Tillman anddefensive tackle Tank Johnson back for the playoffs. That will help. Butwill it be enough without Brown and Harris?
Skeptical homer that's watched the Bears not win a playoff game since God knows when. Watched every one of their games this year and the Bears defense just isn't that good right now. And the offense is just downright scary, you just don't know what you're going to get. Maybe Hester will have 5 returns for td's lol. What kind of aBears will get beat by 2 tds, it's gonna be ugly.are you?
yes, I like the Seahawks chances this week for those reasons... I also like the Holmgren advantage in a game like this - if he can get Hasselback off to a good start early, I even think the Seahawks could win easy. It DOES scare me going into Chicago and if the Hawks struggle to start you can throw out everything I just said - they will need the momentum that last week provided.Chicago has all the pressure on them. If Rex starts out poorly, the crowd will turn on him. If Chicago loses a playoff home game for the second year in a row, the season will be a complete failure. Chicago will be wound up tight. After the gift the Hawks got, they must feel like destiny is on their side. The Hawks have a fighters chance in this game and have all of the playoff experience.
Weather report for Sunday, January 14, 2007:
Cloudy with a wintry mix. Highs in the low 30s and lows in the low 20s.
I look at it the opposite. They got another gift and haven't really been playing very well. To me that's a recipe for a loss going forward. After the gift the Hawks got, they must feel like destiny is on their side.
It's worked for decades, why stop now???It looks like the Chicago strategy of "voting early and often" continues to rule the political landscape.
Exactly. I think it's hilarious how some think the Bears defense is that bad now. IT'S NOT!Even with missing a few players, the Bears defense is still good enough to contain a Seattle offense that struggled against a Cowboys defense that was playing very poorly going into last weekend's game. As long as Grossman doesn't give the game away, which he could very well do, I think the Bears win. I will say 23-10 Chicago.
the Bears DEF ain't what it used to be...In the last 2 months of the season they were a very pedestrian group, with maybe the only category that they stood out in being INTs. They were middle of the road in fumbles recovered, passing yards against, rushing yards against, total yards against and points with 186 during that span - about the same as the Packers, Texans and Bengals - not exactly defensive jauggernauts... The best thing you can say about them is that they scored 5 TDs during that time - but 4 of them came from Devin Hester on special teams. And they have been especially vulnerable to the pass over the last month of the season. If you are depending on the Defense to win this game, I like Seattle's chances as a little confidence can go a long way in this league.Exactly. Total YardsSeattle 332I don't think even Grossman can lose this game for the Bears.
Good team + well rested >> mediocre team + victory they didn't deserve
Funny though how the Hawks beat the Panthers quite handily the next week. Maybe the Bears could have asked for notes from the Hawks on how to cover Steve Smith. The Seahawks do not have a defense even close to Carolina's no do they have anyone remotely close to Steve Smith. Forget it.
They beat Denver this year. Last time Seattle played Chicago at their house Seattle won 14-13.When's the last time Seatlle went outside their stadiuma nd beat anybody of consequence? St Louis? Spare me, Bears by 20.
So, a team that couldn't take advantage of an injury-riddled secondary, and that gave away two points on an awful fumble inside their own five-yard line, and that couldn't convert a virtual XP to take the lead would have been deserving of that win? If you want to say that Dallas beat themselves, that is fine, but since Seattle did not beat themselves like Dallas did, I would say they were deserving of that victory.I don't think even Grossman can lose this game for the Bears.

Does their = Chicago? If so, aren't you forgetting about a game they played three months ago? They beat Denver this year. Are you going to fish in every Seahawks related thread? Also, you might want to use grammer check next time. Thanks.Hamstring said:The Seahawks do not have a defense even close to Carolina's no do they have anyone remotely close to Steve Smith. Forget it.
