Who wins that other starting WR spot in Baltimore? (1 Viewer)

seems to be a lot fo chatter about deonte thompson. i know he has speed but wasn't the knock him that he had hands of stone? i grabbed streeter as a kind of lottery ticket because the measureables make him a standout.

My early favorite is Tandon Doss, but I doubt he'll be very good. He has the size (and speed) of Boldin for good and bad. Doss is a fairly good run blocker from everything I've read. He has also been with the team three years so has a bit of a comfort level that the other wide receivers likely don't have.

This thread inspired a little piece and basically, the answer is Streeter, Mellette or not on the roster at the moment.
I think it's a mistake to write off Thompson simply as a burner. Streeter and Thompson have had problems catching the ball consistently, hence the reason they were drafted so late/not drafted. Mellette is coming from a FCS school where he dominated but I doubt he'll be able to contribute much this year.

It's not exciting but I think Doss is the #2 this year.

I think you are probably right, and from a fantasy perspective, that does not excite me.

much needed thread to keep all the discussion about these guys in one place.

Deonte Thompson is my favorite. He lit up training camp last season and the Ravens held him on the 53 all year despite being inactive most weeks. To me this shows that they really like him a lot. He has 4.2 speed and decent size at 6' 200 lbs. He had trouble holding onto the football at Florida, but I'm not sure he either couldn't learn to catch or that some poor QB play wasn't part of the problem. Wasn't that when Florida was really struggling?

Caldwell Praise

Thompson may have inside track
