Reid/Eagles made their bed.....why would you even think they would consider not starting Kolb? Fans can speculate all they want....they can complain....bemoan, debate, etc. But the facts surrounding the Eagles quarterback situation were made in the off season....I would say Reid would be an idiot for NOT starting Kolb.

Oh, I don't know...perhaps because the point is to win games and go to the playoffs.Or is there another objective I'm not aware of?
Yeah, the other objective is to build a team that can win the Super Bowl. To do that, the Eagles need to get Kevin Kolb in the right frame of mind and playing at a high level. They aren't going to the Super Bowl this year. Banged-up OL. Defense isn't there yet. Yeah, maybe they make the playoffs with Vick and not with Kolb. Maybe. But it's about the future, not about this week or next - and Kevin Kolb is or maybe isn't the future. The only way to find out is to play him.

over the course of the next 7 years, the eales have a better chance of making the super bowl with vick than kolb.

Kolb is Reid's guy for the future. When they traded McNabb, that told Philadelphia fans that this year was not solely about wins and losses.

 Pretty much sums up the entire point of the Eagles season. We ain't winning the super bowl which last time I checked is the point, LHUCKS. The point is not to win "some" games and "make" the playoffs. You play to win the Super Bowl. This team has no shot of that this season. The defense is suspect as seen today. The o-line is in shambles and will be destroyed by a team other than the Lions the way we currently run our offense. The whole point of this year is to grow and find out if Kolb can play. If he can't play, then we need to draft someone who can but we won't know that till he starts for a season.

 The question will be can Kevin Kolb survive behind that offensive line? I think every opposing defense will be blitzing frequently and forcing Kolb out of the pocket. I highly doubt today was Vick's last start this year.

Wouldn't be the first time someone was playing bad, got hurt and their replacement lit it up and stole the job. It's not like Kolb should be given the benefit of the doubt like his last name were Manning or Brady.

Vick is playing out of his mind right now. 63% completion percentage, 8 YPA, 0 INTs, 105.5 passer rating. He seems capable of running this offense.

Which is good for him because it means he'll get a starting job in the league next year. As for the Eagles, they need to find out whether they have a QB for the future or not. So you let Kolb play the whole game, without Vick coming in and see what he does.

Yeah, he's capable of running the offense. That's not the point. The point of this season is to find out how if Kolb can improve and mature with the young guys on offense. The Eagles picked up Vick with the intention of flipping him for a draft pick. Didn't happen and now they've created a situation they never intended. And if Andy had any intention of changing his mind, he wouldn't have named Kolb the week 3 starter before today's kickoff.Kolb will be back with the Eagles in '11, Vick won't. And a season of Vick this year only sets the franchise back a year. Its what Andy wants whether the people here are concerned with their fantasy stats or not. This year is about Kolb/McCoy/Maclin/Jackson/Celek maturing together.

Yeah, its amazing how much better McNabb's backups looked at times but Donnie always got his job back!

You made the decision that Kolb was your guy for the future in the off-season - why would you not start him after one bad half?

This decision was made in the summer, imo.

You need to let Kolb prove he can be a playoff caliber QB, - you already know Vick is not

the notion that the Eagles can't win the SuperBowl this year is laughable to me. Vick honestly looks like the NFL MVP right now...when you have that kind of weapon at QB you can play with anybody.

Because you haven't given up on the SuperBowl yet and because Kolb has looked like doggy doo doo.Seriously, Vick is in MVP form right now...I don't understand how you can bench him for a guy that MIGHT lead you to the Superbowl in future years.Seem like a -EV play to me...big time. How incredibily demoralizing this must be for the players too.

Slow down. It was one game against the Lions. I agree that Vick gives Philly their best chance to win but the MVP talk is pure lunacy.

as worded, i would start kolb. if i unceremoniously shipped mcnabb for peanuts, and banked my livelihood on kolb, then he is starting for the next 2-3 seasons. and the real world will work similarly.

the objective, from an individual standpoint, is to keep your job. admitting that you screwed the pooch on kolb after 2 weeks is not how you keep your job.

actually this was the second game. If you watch last week, it was abvious Vick was better than Kolb. With Philly OL not up to par, Vick should be the guy back there. If I was Reid, i would have had enough concusion testing done on Kolb to keep him out another week or two.

I guess the part where the eagles let the Lions almost come back and beat them must've slipped your mind. No defense that lets up 32 points to the Lions is going to win the Super Bowl.

What short memories people have--Vick has never been a great QB and it's laughable to think he should start the rest of the way. Granted, he looked decent today, but Kolb could have torched the Lion D as well....The bottom line is Kolb is the future and he needs time to develop...

vick lead them to an extremely narrow victory over the worst team of the past decade. how can you even consider the super bowl?

you're the one constantly insulting everyone here. not sure if pointing to their majority opinion is something you can do given your track record.

The notion that the Eagles have no chance to go anywhere this year so play Kolb is laughable. Why can't the Eagles win the NFC East? None of those teams are better than the Eagles. There are only two teams that are "great" teams in the NFC (Saints and Packers). They can hang with anyone else. Put your best field on the team every week. It didn't hurt Aaron Rodgers to sit a few years, why can't Kolb sit this year? Vick gives this team the best chance to go deep into the playoffs.

Let it ride...

Kevin Kolb is lucky to be starting on the road. He pretty much has to beat a weak Jaguars team if he wants to keep his job. I can't see them coming home in a key matchup vs the Redskins to just throw in the towel.

See, what I think is laughable is telling a guy "you're my QB", giving him a $12 mil bonus, and benching him after 10 passes. Guess I'm funny that way.

funny you should mention aaron rodgers considering the packers cut favre after the team went 13-3 and settled for a 6-10 season the next year. and now because they suffered through that one lean year they will be a super bowl contender for the next 5 years. hopefully the eagles arent as shortsighted as the people here.

If I were Andy Reid it is a no braineR. I trade the franchise qb the past decade away and give this guy the starting gig there is no way i'm starting someone else over him. It is superbowl unemployment line or another decade of almost there.

Now if I were anyone else besides Reid it is a no brainer. Vick is looking awesome so why stop a good thing?

This thread is amazing. Eagles already let go of one QB who was better than Kolb last offseason. Are they planning to do this every year? Is there some reason the Eagles don't want to re-sign the QB who's playing like a MVP?

Bingo! Which is further proof this year is NOT about winning or going to the playoffs. Its about developing their QB of the future. If they were so concerned about this year, they would have just kept McNabb.

They're allowed to re-sign the better QB. At least starting Kolb will ensure a higher draft pick.

JAX has one of the worst pass rushes in the league. Great time to get him back in there.
