Yeah, because Harrison wasn't even close to 1k before Manning came along; only getting 836 and 8 TD's his rookie year, without Wayne on the other side, and without Manning. He's been all about Manning making him.
You're missing the point.
PMENFAN said:
But, if he made Stokley so much better, what happened after 2004? Why one great year, and never abore 1 TD again? Wouldn't you say 2004 was more a fluke than anything? I'd say so.
Stokely was injured.

You also have to consider it's a lot easier throwing to the third receiver when you have to cover Harrison, Wayne and Clark.
So you are saying Manning was good at progressing through his options. Good.

Brady's never had a 10 TD receiver. Does that matter?
Well, yeah. How is it he's SO GOOD, but can't get a single WR he's ever played with, to score double digit TDs? Manning got Brandon Stokely a 10 TD season, as his THIRD option... Brady can't do it with his first or second?

IIRC, that year Manning had 3, and still managed only 3 points in his playoff loss. How does that happen? How can he be individually making his receivers so much better and manage to score only 3 points in a playoff game? That's right, it was one of the years when the defense let him down.
Manning has had his share of bad playoff games. Brady has had his share of great playoff games. But side by side, Manning is still the better QB. Have you ever considered that the pressure is so much more on Manning than Brady?

What receiver has gotten better by leaving New England? There have been a few that have left the 3 Superbowl championship teams. Patten, Givens, Branch, Bethel Johnson. I think every one of these guys was made better by playing with Brady.
The point isn't that they've gotten better w/o Brady. It's that they haven't gotten worse.

Caldwell and Gaffney both played better in the playoffs than Branch. Now, compare their salaries.
Caldwell and Gaffney, I have maintained, are much better WRs than PAts fans want people to think. However, Branch was far better in the playoffs in NE than they were this year. In fact, Caldwell and Gaffney were both drafted higher than Branchm and _should_ outperfofm him (from that POV). I digress, because I think Branch should have been drafted higher, he was a steal where the Pats got him.

I guess that's one reason I'd rather have Brady that I didn't cit above. Brady's defense let's him down less frequently. More so, I would take Brady, because in the Playoffs, Manning has a history of getting shut down, and Brady doesn't. Even with the #1 and #2 offense year in and out, Manning has been shut down in the playoffs. Even with a middle of the road offense, Brady doesn't. Yes, he only put up 14 in Denver last year, in his worse game. That's a far cry from a 0, or a 3. That's driving a Ford, not a Ferrari.
As I said above, Brady has historically gotten it done in the playoffs. He's not a bad QB. But I give more credit to his coaches than I do to Brady for those wins. And Mannign deserves his share of blame for the playoff losses. However, the difference is that Mannign was expected to win the game by himself, whereas Brady wasn't expected to win the game by himself. IMO.

Harrison's 3 worst years are better than anything NE has ever had...

Harrison's Worst Years:

1996 Indianapolis Colts 16 15 64 836 13.1 41 8

1997 Indianapolis Colts 16 15 73 866 11.9 44 6

1998 Indianapolis Colts 12 12 59 776 13.2 61 7

Patriots WRs Career Years:

Gaffney: 632, 2 TDs.

Caldwell: 760, 4 TDs.

Patten: 800, 7 TDs.

Jefferson: 842, 2 TDs.

Branch: 998, 5 TDs.

Marvin Harrison worst year is still better than the ultra-talented (according to Switz) David Patten's best year.

These are Deion Branch's career numbers. And while there's a very nice season mixed in there, these are also the numbers of an average NFL WR. Branch is a #2.

2002 New England Patriots 489, 6

2003 New England Patriots 803, 3

2004 New England Patriots 454, 4

2005 New England Patriots 998, 5

2006 Seattle Seahawks 725, 4

Bottom line is the Brady-led Patriots have never had a receiver that could sniff Harrison and/or Wayne's jock.

Patten was a GREAT WR who had tons of injury problems.
:lmao: I'm convinced, Switz is :goodposting: . And I am not taking that bait anymore!

I digress, Troy Brown had a nice little run here. Still not Harrison/Wayne nice however.

Troy Brown:

2000 New England Patriots 944, 4

2001 New England Patriots 1199, 5

2002 New England Patriots 890, 3
