Wowawewa, that many people think the Giants are going to elfoldo?

Seriously, could some of the NY/Wash homers break this game down for me as to why it would go one way or the other, because I've been looking at it (trying to decide if I even want to watch it, or spend quality time with the GF), and can't figure out why the Skins would show up apart from the rivalry/pride thing which gets you through the 1st half and that's about it.

Explain it to me like I'm H.K......

Well you have the Skins O-Line and Betts would like to set the franchise record for consecutive 100yd rushing performances. Also alot of the talk out of DC has been about how everyone is playing for their resume tape. Plus contract deals and all that fun stuff.

The Redskins offense is playing for momentum next year. If they resign Dockery, all 11 starters will be back. Defense is an issue because of injuries, especially to Springs and Washington, and that may be what Eli needs to get some momentum in this game. The Redskins special teams are playing at as high of a level as I've seen in my lifetime - I mean that.

As for the game being meaningless, remember that this is the team that came to play despite being eliminated from the playoffs weeks before and beat up a 8-7 Vikings team in 2004 that was (they thought) playing for a playoff spot - it turned out that the Vikings made the playoffs anyway.

I don't think the Giants walk away with this one - they'll need to earn it.

I didn't mean to imply that the Giants would/should cakewalk. I'm just really surprised that the SP is 2-1 on the Skins right now.Sure the Skins have something to play for, but they haven't exactly set the world on fire here, and as you mention they do have concerns going in. The Giants are fighting for their playoff lives, plus it's Tiki's last game (possibly) and I'd think he'll do what he can to go out with a bang. The Giants are getting 2.5, but 66% of the posters are calling the Skins, I just find it interesting. Is it attributable to some kind of NY/Eli backlash?I also find it interesting that we have yet to hear from any Giants homers in detail.

ive watched a bit of the giants this year and they have gone to looking like a top 5 team to looking like a bottom 10 team in 7 weeks.. no confidence, D is not as good, manning is playing like poop and the skins for all their faults are not that bad.

should be a close game

Darrell Green and Brian Mitchell are coming to pay you a visit. :lmao: The defenses on both sides seem to be pretty decimated by injuries. With Springs out, Washington should be pretty helpless against the pass, and this might be the opportunity for Lil' Bro Elisha to finally get some of his confidence back. On the other hand, the banged up Giants D-line will probably not be able to stop the Skins running game as the O-line and Betts should pound them mercilessly. I actually think it should be an entertaining, even if not particularly well played, game.

Those saying the Skins have nothing to play for... I can't back this up with facts, but I have this theory that teams who have been eliminated from the playoffs for a week or two are not as likely to give up on a late season game like this. For the most part, they've already come to terms with their fate and, like some have said above, they're playing for their roster spot next year (on this team or another). There are some teams who have obviously gone in the tank, but they are pretty easy to spot (See: Raiders, Oakland) The teams I don't like to rely on at the end of the season are the ones who have JUST been eliminated from the playoff race, as they are more likely to suffer an emotional let-down. Again, no facts, just a hunch.

Hehe, those guys were great - Mike Nelms too - but the coverage units have been superb. The Redskins never seem to block kicks/punts and they've done it twice this year. They're just really good all the way around, especially now that their punter, Frost, and their kicker Suisham are in a groove right now.

Andre Carter has really come on and could cause some problems for Whitfield. The Redskins D-line, now that it's healthy, is actually playing pretty well. I'm a bit concerned at CB and LB due to the injuries I mentioed before to Springs and Washington though.

I am a Giants homer ... It just seems that the bigger the challange the bigger the flop. I don't expect the Skins to win ... I expect the Giants to lose. They will probably out play the Skins all day then implode and walk away with a big "L" after a couple of huge bonehead plays and penalties.

The Giants are underperforming, but I'd have to say the Skins are definately the picture of underperformance. After a somewhat strong season in 05, they looked like dog meat in 06 minus a strong rushing game to their O Line's credit. A rookie skins QB vs. a Manning, Im sorry, its not a good matchup for the skins. Bet on the Giants.

I think Tiki could be huge tonight.... I don't think he wants to go out with a 5 game losing streak, or whatever it is now. I also think the Giants backup TE's could have a role in this game, with Shockey out. Not a Giants fan, but gut feel tells me they play one more good game in 2006... this is it.

I agree, I think we will see the Giants rally around Tiki and get the win

Your reasoning was completely wrong ... but your result was right.

Well, I was right on everything except what ultimately beat the Redskins. It was Tiki, not Eli. That said, that's hardly a surprise given that Tiki has historically tended to eat the Redskins defense alive. As a 'Skins fan I've got to think that I have more optimism in my QB going forward than Giants fans do in theirs. Campbell, with an entire offseason to work on timing with his receivers, could be very, very good.

Campbell looks like he will be a real gunslinger.
