Why did the Pirates trade for Morris (1 Viewer)

They didn't give much at all-a minor league CF/scrub PTBNL

also, isn't there a chance Morris to be dealt this year to a contender for guys on somebdy's 40 man roster? I think Pittsburgh is more looking for major league ready prospects

Easily the worst trade of the year. Morris sucks, he's overpaid, and Pittsburgh isn't sniffing the playoffs anytime soon. Even if this non-prospect the Giants got goes belly-up, this is still a win just for getting out from under Morris' $9M next year.

That debacle that the Reds pulled off last year is in the same ballpark, but I can't decide which one is more ######ed. I'm absolutely positive that the 30 MLB GM's are not the 30 smartest baseball men on Earth.

I'm really sick right now. As a Pirates fan, I can't take this anymore. Matt freaking Morris is the highest paid player in Pirates history now? He accounts for 20% of the team's overall payroll? This makes no sense to me at all. Until this management is gone, I cannot cheer for this team anymore. I just can't. Thank God football season is starting up soon.......

Pretty much the same way all of us Pirates fans feel. The system in baseball is terribly unfair, and the reasons are obvious. But that doesn't excuse the ridiculous personnel decisions this group has been making for years now, and bringing on a 33 year old pitcher and committing to pay him around $15 million in a year and a half is the cherry on top. I'm done going to Pirates games until Littlefield is fired or the team is sold.

I have cheared for the pirates for 30 years and most of that time they have sucked, but I am ready to give up too. Go Cubs.

If it makes y'all feel any better, it probably wasn't as dumb as the moves the Nats made.

I hear ya bud. Been a pirate fan my whole life, 33 years. I just can't root for this team anymore. The organization is a debacle and in my opionion has become the worst in baseball, if not all of professional sports. There is no logic that would make the Morris trade make any sense.Littlefield, the scouting staff, Tracy and all the coaches need to fired. This organization needs to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch. However, for that to happen Nutting will have to sell this team to an owner who is willing to make wholesale changes. :bag: ;) :wall:
