Why do people keep calling him AD (2 Viewers)

I'm assuming because his nickname is All-Day I believe. I could be wrong.

Edit: Too slow.

Part of me wants to ridicule the OP. But I'm feeling like being nice....

AD's nickname as a kid was All Day. As in he can run All Day. Another variation is ADP - All Day Peterson....

As a college athlete he never had to attend class and never gradumeated so doesn't even know his initials are "wrong".

This gets asked so many times it should be a sticky.

One thing I am confused about is that people call him ADP. I understand AD. I understand AP. I would even understand AADP. But why ADP, sheesh. That should just stand for "Average Draft Position".

I just call him ADP.But you people having a problem with his nickname, you really need to let it go.

ADP sounds way cooler and would make much more sense, since you don't have to worry about an AD2. Plus there's many ways to incorporate the words All Day and Purple or People if they wanted to. AD just sounds like some sort of disease...

Adrian Dpeterson. The D is silent.
Best post yet. I agree with the poster above. The nickname is stupid. Nicknames in general are lame. It was common back in the early late 1800s and early 1900s that every player have a nickname. Today it is just droll.

Whats wrong with calling him Peterson, or Adrian Peterson. We call Manning Manning, and Brady Brady, why does Peterson need initials? However, if you are going to use initials, how how about the ones that people have been refering to him as for years, and not make up a bunch of new ones like Average Draft Position?

What about Onterrio Smith being called SOTD or SOD or something like that? If I recall, that was a self-proclaimed moniker in training camp. So lame...

And what about Ladainian Tomlinson being LT2? I looked it up and his Dad's name is Ralph! What's up with that?

OK, how about first names? I know there are two Adrian Peterson's, so i can see using a nickname in his case, but how about his real nickname, and not make new ones up?

All Day is a dumb nick name! Why can't he just be called Adrian? I can't, for the life of me, figure out why black people have to nickname everyone and everything. AD, KG, The Big Ticket, T-Mac, The Juice, The Refrigerator, Big Yummy, His Airness, King James, The Glide, The Admiral, Dr. J, The Bus, TO...... I can't think of a single white athlete or singer that has a nickname. Weird!!!

This coming from "Ice Man" is somewhat ironic
