Why do they think it's their job to make the case for why Coach X is actually doing a good job under trying circumstances?

Just once I'd like to hear a game announcer say "You know, he's really done a terrible job here. He's clearly in over his head"

So funny. Maybe it's an access concern, but announcers generally aren't journalists, so that disqualifies that. Good point.

 
Networks are willing partners with the schools in emphasizing the Cult of the Coach. That way they always have a non-threatening milquetoast narrative for the fans.
