Why does Jacksonville even get to host games? (1 Viewer)

They can't sell-out their regular season NFL games, and the ACC championship is about 3/4 empty.

Joke of a city... we got a bigger turnout for the International Bowl in Toronto last year.

They pay for it. Jax gave Alabama and FSU $1M each to host their game earlier this season. It sold out 75K.

We had a blast...and the SB there was fun also. Great atmosphere on the river, and with the Landing and most hotels within walking distance of the stadium, there was a lot of partying going on.

The reason no one is at this ACC game is the BC is too far away.

Think they should move it to Toronto? Cold as hell up there I'm sure and not much to do... in the words of Peter Griffin "Canada Sucks" just kidding, but I'm sure there's more to do and it's a better atmosphere for tourists in FL than it is in a lot of other places

He should just worry about selling out Raptors and Blue Jay games because everytime I see those stadiums on TV it looks like they have as many people there as a Vanilla Ice/Paris Hilton concert.

what do you expect when you put BC (1000 miles away) and VT together in the heart of SEC country (sort of)?

about jax nfl attendance.

they currently rank 23rd in attendance, in past years they typically rank midpack (15-18ish).

that's not stellar, but it's higher than indy (dead last), dallas (26), pittsburgh (27), and chicago (29).

jax municipal stadium holds more people than most nfl stadiums, but none of those teams mentioned above have 100% attendance.

:) 2007 -2008 NBA Attendance (per game)9. Toronto (of 30) 2007 MLB Attendance (per game)18. Toronto (of 30)

You could see how it was filled with hokie fans, we are one of the best when it comes to traveling. HOKIE NATION RULES>>>see you in south beach on the 3rd. Watch and see how many tech fans are there. I was at the 2000 sugar bowl and we out numbered seminole fans by 3-1. BTW tyrod taylor will be a star.

As crass as Khalif Barnes description of J-Ville was, it is unfortunately true. It is truly a "redneck" (his words) town...a "Lennie" that grew too big for its own good. Been down here for about 4 years (from Philly), and while many of the people are very kind, it is like being in a small town that just doesnt end. There are just WAY too many rude, crude, seemingly uneducated people floating around. Its a shame really, because this place could have it all...a nice downtown, the beach, a great river scene, perfect weather, etc...

I'm wondering why the people of Jacksonville are expected to fill up the 80k+ seat stadium for a BC vs Va Tech game. Seriously, you are ragging on Jacksonville for not selling out a game with no national championship implications and two teams that's are 12+ hours away? With match ups like Ga Tech/Wake and BC/Va Tech that ACC championship game isn't going to sell out anywhere. Va Tech travels well, but don't blame Jacksonville because BC brought like 5k people. Move the silly game, let another city try and sellout games where the two school involved aren't even interested.

Think they should move it to LA?
How can there no team in Los Angeles?
Because we wouldn't show up until the 2nd quarter started and we'd leave halfway through the 4th.I say give a team to N. Dakota or somewhere where there's nothing to do before LA... we wouldn't appreciate it.
Yea, I lived in LA for years and most people nationally just don't seem to understand that people out there don't want a team. Well, besides the gangbangers that want the Raiders back. But overall there's almost zero buzz about gettng the NFL back in LA. If LA really wanted a team, they'd have one by now.

Thats the god honest truth. All that money in SoCAL, if they truely wanted NFL football they would have it. No uproar for the game, so nobody is pushing hard for it.

The Super Bowl in Jacksonville was a disaster. Few Hotels, transportation was lousy, restaurants ran out of food and beer/liquor. It was a clusterF at every turn. Don't get me wrong, I am sure that it's a very nice city when you don't have a million out of town fans running around. But with that being said, Jacksonville should NEVER have another super bowl EVER again.

As much as I hate the city of Jacksonville (seriously, that place sucks) I don't see how the stadium being at 3/4's capacity has anything to do with the city as compared to the fans of the teams playing. The place is packed for other college ball games, and bowl games always sell out despite often being much further away and having less implications.

Don't get me wrong...I wasn't talking about the logistics and how it went as an overall event. You are right, it's simply too small an area to be a great host. And it won't host another.I was talking strictly about how cool it was around the stadium during the weekend and on Game Day. I've been to the last 4, and some guys I was with have been to as many as the last 20...and everybody thought that aspect was as good as the SB has ever been. It had what everyone loves about NOLA...proximity...plus it was on the river. Very nice. Also has the best golf in the country. The SB is unique in that you get so many people in town who aren't even going to the game (a reported 1 Million in Miami). That's not the case for a normal football game.
