Why doesn't the NFL require the safest helmets be worn? (1 Viewer)

I may be missing something but as I heard about Aaron Rodgers wearing the different helmet this week I wondered why aren't the players required to wear the safest helmets? As a coach, wouldn't you want it and as a player wouldn't you want to remember your career?

Also, didn't I hear at one time that mouthpieces help lower the risk of concussions?

Not sure on either one, so if anyone can clarify for me I would appreciate it. :excited:

Why don't they use flags around their waists or play two-hand tag?

Don't worry. In recent years, more sissification is added to the game every season.

good pointThe Chinese are kicking our butt in everything…If this was in China do you think the Chinese would have made everyone use the safest helmet for the game? the Chinese players would wear leather helmets while doing calculus between plays

Why does anyone do anything these days - fear of litigation.

No helmet is safe.

If the NFL determines one is the "safest" they are setting themselves up for a lawsuit when a player is injured despite wearing the league-mandated helmet.

There might be fewer injuries if players wore leather helmets. There's no way to enforce a rule requiring players to wear the safest helmets, because nobody knows which helmets are safest.

haha. You know what I meant.
 I do, I do.I'm all for it. People would laugh but if it helps these guys in the long haul, why not? But if what MT said is true, then I guess they don't have the data yet on which helmet is "safest."
Aaron Rodgers knows which helmets "aren't" safe.
