I'm going with him over Moreno too, debating Ingram but I think Wells should have a real nice game against the Panthers.

FF history shows how certain players after a down yr or two fall out of favor with FF owners....ala DeAngelo Williams, Cedric Benson, Thomas Jones, McFadden, Hillis, Tiki Barber and Ahman Green to name some while owners spend high draft picks on that year's rookie darlings. Barring injury I see 1,200 yds and 10 tds for Wells this yr and will be starting him at the flex spot come week 1.
 
(Rotoworld) Coach Ken Whisenhunt is "excited" about the way Beanie Wells is running this preseason. Analysis: "He's running with a lot of confidence," Whiz said. "You know he believes he can make plays. I remember the end of his rookie year he was running the same way." Whisenhunt also praised Wells' improvement in pass blocking on his way to becoming "the guy" as an all-around back. "He's come a long way since two years ago and I respect that." Wells boasts a 4.8 YPC average on 27 attempts this preseason.

I just took Wells in the sixth round of a 14-team, non-ppr league. I'm sort of meh on his talent but I like his situation and I think he's a good value as my third rb. It was a bit of a toss-up between Beanie and Hightower, but the tie-breaker for me was his lack of competition for carries.

 
Unless Foster is officially out and Tate is the starter, I'm rolling with Wells over Hightower and Ingram. It is a tasty match-up and Wells should be a lock for 20 touches.

That's not a bad idea. I know there are the NBYS people out there but proven history is proven history: He doesn't do well against them (by RB1 standards).I am probably going to start Wells over Felix for similar reasons.
 
Still unsure why he's still going so late. Hes one of maybe 10 backs with a realistic chance to get 320+ touches.

 
I'm starting Beanie over Felix (plays the Jets) in week 1.

Which means Beanie will suck and Felix will have 200 and 2.

 
Beanie's looked fantastic so far. Healthy, he's a RB1 this year IMHO. I think he's an every week starter.

Looked tremendous down the stretch his rookie year. Looks like that guy again. No knee injury to deal with. He'll never be a great receiver (see them picking up a Chester Taylor / Steve Slaton off the wire), but the burst is back.
 
Lots of man-love here for the Arizona running game which has been a bottom 5 running game for years. Where did Arizona upgrade its running game? The only upgrade for Wells is the lack of competition from Hightower's trade and the rookie's injury.

Beanie is RB22 in the draft dominator, that seems about his ceiling, as far as end of year ranking. Beanie Wells an average RB2. Grab him in rounds 6-8 in your draft. A top 10 back he is not.

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun Times reports former Bears running back Chester Taylor has agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals, according to a source.

 
More great news for Beanie with signing of Chester Taylor ...guess Jason Wright wasn't available or didn't want to deal with Tiki's drama.

I can't wait for the people to panic on Beanie and sell because they think taylor may have an impact. His only impact is assuring me Beanie wont lose carries, lol.

i think it hurts him slightly in ppr leagues. even at this stage, taylor is probably a better receiver out of the backfield then beanie. and i like wells. just saying.

1. I don't care how bad a team's rushing offense is, there is no way that RB22 is the ceiling for any feature back. Just two years ago the Zona running game was good for almost 2k total yards and 15 TDs. Kolb is no Warner (though Warner was a shadow of himself that year), but he's no Skelton either.2. What kind of crazy league do you play in where an average RB2 would be worth a 6th-8th rounder? People constantly draft RBs in the 2nd/3rd round that they're hoping can put up decent RB2 numbers for them.

I think Stephens-Howling was already in line for the passing downs anyway, so adding another player that's going to potentially take looks on those downs rather than 1st and 2nd down is a win.
 
What's the impact on Stephens-Howling? Worth less as a handcuff, compared to say a Bernard Scott, who doesn't have as much company as a backup?

Got Beanie in the fifth round of my PPR draft last night as my RB3. He was the 23rd RB taken. I'm very happy with the value there. I've always liked Beanie and while I'm not expecting a McFadden-esque breakout I do think that if he can stay healthy (which to me is the biggest issue with Beanie - durability) he has the opportunity to be a Top 15-20 RB. He's going to get plenty of carries and Arizona's offense should be improved with Kolb at QB.

 
After week 1 each year, there's usually 1 or 2 guys who people wish they had drafted. Beanie will be one of these. 100 yards, 2 TDs.

 
He had a nice game and ran with real power. He's going to have a nice year. If that pitch had been above his knees he would have had another td.

 
Surprisingly little chatter this morning, all things considered. I expected those who were/are down on Wells to point out that he had a fumble and very few touches in the second half. At the same time, the Cardinals offense looked well-balanced IMO and Wells was running strong for all four quarters. Regarding the fumble, it looked fairly obvious that the pitch was low (and in fact was the only pitch play they ran all game, IIRC) and was not necessarily Wells's fault.

I'm expecting more of the same as the season wears on. I think those that predicted 1000 - 1200 yards with 8-12 TDs are going to be continue to be pleased with Wells.

 
I expect four or five, 10 carry 45 yard days... but yesterday was nice. if Beanie is your flex, you will be happy. Counting on him for more than that will be tough, imo.

 
he'll be a very nice value all year...no competition for carries, red zone work, nice schedule...the good thing is that the AZ offense may be a little better than I anticipated which is a good thing for Wells. Last year there were 10 guys in the box and nothing they could do about it but now with a decent looking QB in there they can hit Fitz/Heap/Roberts down the field and make the defense think about the pass a bit. That to me was the biggest risk with Wells this year (outside of injury which you can't predict). If they can run a somewhat balanced offense Wells will have some real nice weeks and could finish in the RB10-15 range.

I think that's reasonable. In fact, I'd suggest that what will keep him out of Rb1 territory will be the fact that he has a number of low-volume games while the Cardinals are busy flinging it alll over the field. If Wells can be a productive player when he gets carries (as opposed to a 2 YPC slug) then he'll continue being solid value going forward.
 
Wells looked great, and would have scored again if the pitch from Kolb was a little higher. CAR D isn't really good, but if you look at AZ schedule, aside from a tough Week 7-8 against PIT and BAL, their schedule is OK. Also liked that AZ got him involved in the passing game, with 4 catches.

No reason to believe Beanie won't get 17+ touches a game.....the big question is can he stay healthy all year.

They ran a pitch to Beanie the other way on the very next drive. And while it wasn't necessarily Well's fault the pitch was a little low and kind of behind him... he has to get that... I think he was looking ahead because he had blockers and probably would've got in.

 
Thanks to all who are reporting on what they saw out of Wells yesterday. I didn't see a snap of the game, and it's the knowledge that you can't get from the boxscore -- like that apparently Wells would have scored a second TD -- that helps in assessing your roster.

I plan on taking them off as some as you purchase a TV set. ;)No clue what you were watching (or not watching) this preseason. Wasn't really difficult to see this coming (especially given his lone competition/RBBC partner, Ryan Williams, went down with injury). :shrug:He's a shoe in to be a RB1 this year if he remains healthy. Which given where he was drafted this preseason, is a steal.

He reminds me of Jamal Lewis after he got old and lost his burst. I used to joke that Lewis' steps to yards ratio was worst in the league. Beanie's lining up for that claim now.

Beanie looked great yesterday with both speed running on the outside and power running between the tackles. Finished every run for positive yardage and punished any would be tacklers as they were trying to drag him down. Also proved himself at the goal line... thrice.

Keep it up Beanie.

In the league I play in, here is ranking on the weeks he has played:Week 1: RB8Week 2: RB13Week 4: RB1Average: RB 7.3Survey says: RB1 in weeks he plays (unless you play in 6 teams leagues or smaller). At least to this point in the season.
 
On paper, 3 tough games ahead for Beanie: twice against 49ers & a trip to Balitmore. Pre-season Pitt would've been another tough one, but now, not looking quite so bad. Depending on health, this guy could be the savior for many teams that either waited on RB (like me), or took Charles/Mendy/CJlessThan2K as their RB1.
