Why is Favre rated so friggin' low this week? (1 Viewer)

16th? Are you kidding me?

Don't folks realize that the Packers are playing DENVER?

Week7: Ben Roethlisberger, 290 yards, 4 touchdowns

Bye bye!

It'll depend on Bailey's health status. If he's 100% Favre isn't a great start. The game then turns into weakness vs. weakness, the GB running game against the DEN run defense.

That line of reasoning is sooo three weeks ago.

The Broncos changed up their defensive schemes during the bye week to focus on stopping the run. Plus Champ and Dre are not 100%. Plus the Broncos only faced one top 10 QB in their first 5 games. Plus Brett Favre almost always has a big game on MNF. Plus...

I'm still trying to find where I saw this earlier in the day...so I hope I don't freak anyone out. I thought I saw somewhere this morning during my breakfast (no link yet sorry) that he had injured his throwing shoulder...rotor cuff...or something like that. If that is taken into account that might also be the reasoning for the low ranking.

I myself was surprised to see it that low as well especially after what big Ben did to them. But, take into account that this is also the preliminary ranking...I've seen rather high ranked players move down quite a bit later when the official sheets came out...so he could in fact move up later. Dismissing the INTs and the FUMBLE and Ben might have been even BETTER in terms of fantasy scoring. The end of the week players in the news will probably help determine the final cheat sheets ranking, also depending on weather or not Bailey and/or Bly will play/be at 100%.

Just let the door hit you on the way out. You obviously don't like the rankings. So don't use them, and stop #####ing and whining about it. Your thought process is superior so ride that to your championship. But quit the #####ing. We get it, you disagree. Can't wait until the next time you don't make the right call and want to blame someone else for it.

That story (I saw it earlier here too) was more like someone reported Favre acted strange after releasing a pass and they weren't sure if he threw anymore passes. Favre then commented to reporters asking THEM to come out and see if he's lost any zip. Then, Dr. FBG said "Sounds like a rotator cuff".

So sorry to offend your delicate FBG loving sensibilities. I thought one of the purposes of these boards was to debate the FBG rankings and what-not. I guess in your world, FBG are always right and anyone who disagrees is not entitled to their opinion.

interestingly enough, the strength of schedule contradicts it a bit too. I don't think Denver's defense is in the top 8 for fantasy points allowed to QB. is the denver pass defense being overhyped?

What a sweet little useless and inaccurate overreaction. I've advocated repeatedly to use your own judgement when deciding who to start, but don't let that stop you from an attack on me. And it's not the content of your posts, but the tone of them. Cursing FBG for their efforts and generally being an ### about things is annoying and unnecessary. Your posts go far beyond just disagreeing. Try some tact. And no, the purpose of the boards is NOT to discuss FBG rankings as a matter of fact. It's a tricky line, but FBG rankings are paid subscriber content and the board is free so discussing rankings is difficult. In general, the less paid info you give out on the free board, the better. One of the arguments for an all subscriber board.

Draftsharks has Favre ranked number 1 this week.

Projections 310 Yards, 3 Touchdowns, and 1 Interception.

I see the Packers struggling a little bit against the Denver run defense as they will stack the line. Bailey and Bly are both a little banged up so I could see Farve having a respectable day. I do not think he will be the number 1 fantasy QB this week but a top 10 finish definatley.

Hmm I see Wynn running all over Denver like everyone else does, this is why their pass D is so "good"

Ok, good...knew I saw it somewhere...have you found anything concrete on it yet?

You might want to check the status of Wynn going into Monday Night.

Hmmm... where are all the BTB quotes from that thread that led me to respond this way? Out of context quotes can be fun, but the fact is that my qupte came after repeated replies on his part that were all annoying and baseless complaints. It's not like that was the first reply to him.

The reality is there is varying opinions on Favre for this week. Dodds has the opinion that he'll be #17, so he must feel strongly about the Denver defensive backs this week. The strength of schedule has it as a decent matchup for FAvre. The passing matchups have it as a good matchup for Favre.

If we search amongst the banter of this thread there are some things that lead to polarizing opinions on how this weekend could go for Favre. The Denver secondary is potentially dangerous and we all know Favre still has the gunslinger mentality at times (although this year he's been more controlled) so he can throw 5 interceptions or he can throw 5 touchdowns any given weekend (sometimes both).

It really doesn't matter how good Denver's secondary is. Their front four cannot generate a pass rush. Give a great QB like Favre time to throw and he will pick you apart. After the success that Pittsburgh had through the air last week, I do not see the Pack shying away from the aerial attack at all in this game.

This is the correct answer. Favre with time will kill any defense. Under pressure, he tends to force it.

Yes the matchups rated Favre as facing a good matchup, but with the assumption that Bailey (who was limited in practice on Wednesday) won't be able to play on Monday night. As others have noted, the projections will change depending on the news on Bailey out of Denver as Monday night approaches closer.
This looks like a good matchup for Favre and company, assuming Bailey is out this Monday.
I know this because I wrote that sentence. MW

I thought I read Favre was wincing in pain from his shoulder after every thow in practice. Maybe that has something to do with it.

As opposed to reading the OP's spiteful, bitter and useless posts?

Denver's defense in 2nd in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game.
The Raiders had the "killer" pass D last year too because everyone ran up and down the field on them.
So start him then.
While BusterT's delivery was't popular, I think he makes a valid point. Favre has been passing like a mad-man this year and it should be a shootout Monday night.Cutler should be a great start too. I'm predicting 2 TDs and 225 yards minimum per QB.

The thing I'd love to hear explained to me is how Favre is the #17QB, yet Donald Driver is the #13WR? This makes no sense, Champ Bailey is gonna blanket Driver and force a horrible performance, yet Favre can go to Jenning/Jones all night. Riddle me that?

Bailey does not cover one WR. He covers one side of the field.

mark, i think we're making the same point here. the situation has a wide range of possibilities based on the status of the denver secondary and favre's style of play. this is a tough ranking to come up with for favre this week because there doesn't seem to be much middle ground. it feels like a boom or bust weekend for him.

I recall Roethlisberger being flushed out of the pocket a lot v. the Broncos. He has shown an ability to adeptly evade the rush and look down field. At 38, I am not dure Favre is as fleet footed. I would not discount a fired up Broncos Defense at home on a Monday night to put some pressure on Favre.

That's funny, you just described most of your posts.

whats the weather forecast for denver this upcoming weekend? last week the broncos game got a lucky break as it stopped snowing for sometime before the game. i know favre is used to frigid temps playing in the frozen tundra but the fact is nobody lights up the passing stats in snow. any denver homers got a forecast?

Leave Brittney Alone!!!!!!!!

why has nobody mentioned how poor Denver's LBs are in coverage?

ian gold couldnt cover a TE to save his life. nate webster? are you serious?

i dont know if some of you guys actually watch football or just read posts on message boards.

dre bly can get burned deep (see jerry porter)

Nick Furguson is horrible, and will get targeted ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL day

And Favre's strength is the short to intermediate range. I think Favre has a real nice game here. Their offensive line, while not adept at run blocking, is very good at pass blocking.

I"ve got Kitna and Favre on my team. I think my decision to start Favre this week will be due to the health of Denver CBs. Plus, I've been burned too many times this year with Kitna's play on the road.
