Why no Westbrook / Patriots talk (1 Viewer)

Patriots have nothing at RB , Westbrook is K. Faulk only about 10X better if healthy which he apparently is now from workouts, he fits the Patriots system perfectly. I thought the whole reason NE wasn't going after a back is they would go after and sign Westbrook at a great price and get a back 30YO. Yeah he has injury issues everyone knows this but when healthy he is still young enough to perform at a high level - hell he might be the Jr. member of the pats RB corps.

Just can't understand the lack of interest here as He fits the system of short passes so well and they will be w/o Welker for a while likely ( till week 6 ). A. he can be had at a reasonable price especially since he would be going to a true contender B. fits the offense perfectly and C. seems healthy for the first time in years.

just wondering what the Pool thought of the lack of interest by NE in Westbrook.

You can say they have nothing, but they have 5 guys under contract and all have experience in the system. If Westbrook is healthy as you say there should be some kind of bidding war for him. The fact that that isn't happening makes me think there's a reason.

Read out of MD where he just now is in full practice form, for cuts and such.. not good for his future prospects.

I agree though, makes sense, if healthy.

Maybe Pats are still waiting for the price to go down to see if it makes sense for them.

I still like Freddy this yr though(foolishly) if the Pats stand firm w/ what they got.

I think something is going to happen soon w/ Westy though, regardless of where he plays.

Westy is not roster worthy this yr in most of the situations he is rumored to enter though, IMO.

Because we have enough RBs and Faulk knows the system/players like the back of his hand. He isn't asked to take on a monster role, but excels at what he does. There's really no one else Westbrook would/should replace...Morris is a decent runner when healthy, and Taylor brings a different skillset than Westy does, with less injury history.

I asked a couple people and they did not see any evidence that the Pats had any interest whatsoever in Westbrook. I'm guessing NE is happy with who they have for what it is costing them and they must feel that Westbrook does not offer them an upgrade and/or his price tag is too high.

They generally like smashmouth RBs that move the pile, and Westbrook doesn't really fit that description. They already have Faulk as a 3rd down back, so there would be a bit or redundancy in adding Westbrook. The Pats have always had an interest in Kevin Jones, so I guess if Faulk went down in training camp maybe they would look to Westbrook, but for now it doesn't even sound like they have even talked much about him.

Even before the concussion, westbrook appeared a step slower and had no explosion. It is time for him to retire and leave the game gracefully. All the injuries throughout his career has worn him down.

There is some quality there, but sure, no one stud. Overall they weren't too bad and I think a couple coaching decisions hurt them and the team. I wish they would get the ball in Maroneys hands on screens a lot more. At this point I'd say he's more explosive in that situation than Westbrook. Morris and Fred provide some muscle and tough yards. Better TE options this year too. At times they use the short pass like a run too. I'm hoping they have enough this year but injuries have plagued them last year along with poor play calling at times.

And frankly I'm tired of the Pats bringing in the Andre Dawsons, Fred Taylors of the world. Use that Raiders pick for a stud RB next year.
