Why the Cowboys (1 Viewer)

A response to "Born to Dance?" How? Sounds like this ##### is just trying to bandwagon off the great bigbottom. And what's with the Carson Palmer line?

1. Overrated Coach

2. Overrated QB

3. Overrated Secondary

4. Overrated starting RB who should have been benched for the better backup months ago

5. Overrated WRs

6. Overrated K who deserved to get cut despite that huge contract

Yep, that just about covers it.

you're a moron.

1. Overrated Coach - Nope. He's a HOF'er with a proven track record.

2. Overrated QB - Agreed.

3. Overrated Secondary defense

4. Overrated starting RB who should have been benched for the better backup months ago - Nope. They needed to pick one guy and go with it. I think Jones has ability but 10 - 12 carries a game ain't enough.

5. Overrated WRs - And his name is Terrell Owens. The guy is a cancer. They got what they deserved signing him. He had the most targets (and the most drops) and still complained and made excuses. Glenn has some of the most reliable hands in the league.

6. Overrated K who deserved to get cut despite that huge contract. Totally agree. They finally did the smart thing.

Yep, that just about covers it.

1. Parcells is a Hall of Famer and has transformed the Cowboys from a talentless team to a legitimate contender.2. Its not Romo fault or the Cowboys fault he was hyped by the media, Parcells repeatedly said put away the annoiting oil and his game plan called for Romo to be conservative and after all of this Romo is still going to the pro bowl albiet by default.3. Secondary was the biggest weakness going into the season no one was saying this was the Cowboys strength.4. Arguable. Jones rushed for over 1000 yards and Barber punched the ball into the endzone hard to argue when you look at the combined stats 1700 yards and 18 touchdowns.5. Say what you want about TO but he still led the NFC in touchdowns and there are NO WR's in free agency that would be able to match that production. Parcells handled TO perfectly this year he just ignored him and everyone figured he was an idiot and by doing this TO was unable to divide the lockerroom. TO was not a cancer the media over hyped his antics this year.6. Gramatica filled in nicely this year. Vanderjagt was a disappointment.

When does Parcells take some of the blame for the December/January flameouts in Dallas? I believe the team has gone 2-3 each year in these months since he's been HC.

All this, and no one has mentioned the real problem in Big D: the owner.

Ever since the Jimmy/Jerry split (and the advent of the salary cap), this organization has not been the same. Jerry Jones as a GM will always cost this team games, because he does not bring in the right personnel.

Don't get me wrong, they have made some great pickups, but how much better should this team be? Both RBs are good, Ware is a monster, and Newman is normally a solid cover guy. All picked up in the past few years. Their cap situation is finally under control, and they're in great shape this offseason.

And yet ...

The coach benches a completely ineffective QB & goes with the young kid who can move a little. The owner decides this is a good time to openly disagree with the move, and then has to go into spin doctor mode for a week to "clarify" his comments.

The coach does not want a Carcinogen at WR. The owner decides he knows more than 31 other teams and brings said Carcinogen on board. Not only on board, but bids against himself, and gives a 3 year deal w/ signing bonus and has absolutely NO behavioral clauses/way for the team to control him built into the contract. The coach attempts to exert some control over the situation, only to have the owner/GM take a different stance in defense of the Carcinogen.

There is a gaping, glaring hole in the secondary at the FS position. The owner/GM made no real effort to fix this problem. And don't give me Patrick Watkins. I like the kid, but he's a 2-3 project, not a serviceable starter for a contending team. This move alone probably cost them 2 games this year.

These are (obviously) just examples from this year, and not even all of the points that could be made.

At some point, Dallas may win the division. They may make some playoff noise. But it will all be in spite of the arrogance of a businessman who thinks he is a qualified GM because he played football 40 years ago. And if/when they win a Super Bowl, just think of how many more they missed out on.

As an Eagles fan, I love the fact that Jerry runs this team (and that Little Danny has used it as a partial template for the Redskins). But with many friends who are Cowboys followers, I completely understand their frustration. Unless you're and ACTUAL football man who has taken ownership of a team, Owners should own (of course, occasional dalliances will happen), and let people who actually know football take care of the team. (Sorry Detroit - I know your owner tried this. Unfortunately, the guy they hired does NOT know football!)

Thats a great theory and all but since Parcells has come on board he has been buying the groceries. It has never been proven only speculated that Parcells didnt want TO. As earlier stated Parcells is great at managing TO unlike Philly who was outsmarted by TO.

Absolutely true that Parcells has not come out and actually SAID he didn't want the Carcinogen on board. How could he? He still had to coach the team as best he could, and you can't bad mouth a player your team just signed. Great at managing him? I don't look back at this season and see that situation as one that was well managed in the least. Parcells has not had full control over personnel moves. Yes, he's definitely had input, but JJ is still the GM. You think Parcells wanted to give Carcinogen that contract? And I don't see how Philly was outsmarted by him. If anything, it's the other way around. They built the contract with a big escape clause after 2 years. Carcinogen was great for 1, then himself for the next. They deactivated him and sent him packing without pay. They stomped him so bad the new CBA was altered so that a team could not do that to a player (no matter how much he deserved it). LOVE the tag line, by the way!
