Why watch MNF tomorrow night - Steelers vs Phins (1 Viewer)

OK, if you're a Steeler homer or fan I can see some interest. But I don't even see anyone from Miami having some interest. Maybe if you needs X points out of X Steeler or Phin to win for the week. I might watch a little to see if Ricky gets any carries and what he does with them, but otherwise this may be the absolute worst matchup that I have ever seen on a Monday Night Game....

I have tickets to the game and I'm not even all that interested. Especially since it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow. :tinfoilhat:

please tell me what else I should watch.

That'll make it more fun to watch. I love sloppy, muddy football. And it also gives the Dolphins a fair chance to do ok if they get some lucky breaks or slips.eta: As long as there are no orange jerseys like they just showed on SNF. That makes almost any game unwatchable.

More fun to watch from your living room. Not quite as much fun when you're sitting outside and it's 40 degrees and raining.

Given that the :towelwave: always wear black at home, your eyes will be spared the horror of the Dolphins in orange...

Starting last season with the move to ESPN, MNF has clearly lost its prestige and cachet as the marquee game of the week to Sunday night. You can't measure teams' importance or prominence by MNF appearences anymore -- thus you're gonna get a lot more of these type of matchups (the old Sunday night games on ESPN used to have these kind of stinkers all the time).

Actually I don't mind sitting in the rain watching the game. I had a ball during the Ravens game. What sucks is tailgating in the rain -- but someone has to do it so I'll be out doing my part tonight.

Why do people post trash like this? Some people like to watch football, and I guess you don't unless it's fantasy related. People would have thought the Steelers Jets games would been a blowout, and the Jets ended up winning a very close game. A lot of people would have thought the Eagles would have gotten blown out by the Patriots, and of course that didn't happen. You can watch swapping wives, but lots of us like to watch football, regardless of the matchup.

Why watch?Because it's FOOTBALL !!!!!!!!!
 Plus America will get the first look at Ricky Williams in quite some time. :bobmarley: PIT has lost to the Cardinals, the Jets and the Broncos and they have key injuries on both sides of the ball. (Holmes and Polamalu). Anything can happen.

If I weren't a Steelers fan, I'd be watching Big Bang Theory/2 1/2 men / Rules of Engagement....best lineup of comedies all week long in my book (Earl & the Office on Thurs. a close 2nd). I'll be watching the game however and Tivo'ing/DVR'ing those comedies and watch them Tuesday night instead.

Actually, Steelers should roll them at home tonight (even without Holmes playing). I think I'd take Miami with the points (isn't it like 16 though?) If it were in Miami, Steelers would be in trouble since they've made AZ, Denver and Jets look like playoff teams when visiting them.

I'm curious to see how Beck, Ginn Jr. and Williams do tonight for fantasy prospecting in my dynasty league. I own Ginn and had Beck at 1 point in the preseason but cut him when I saw he was 3rd on 3 depth chart and I had 3 other QB's on the roster. Now another owner picked him up so I may make a trade offer if I like what I see out of him.

I love watching a Steelers butt whoopin (as in dishing it out) on MNF. Plus I need Big Ben to have a good night tonight......

A very good PIT team that has lost to bad teams already, against a team that's well on it's way to a winless season, with the return of Ricky "Because I got High" Williams?!? What's not to watch?

Yeah, but PIT loses to bad teams on the road, not at home.

league 1, up by 4, opponent has nate washington

league 2, up by 2, opponent has heath miller

this should be the 4th and 5th ffl games i have lost on mnf this season.

Perhaps Willie Parker's owners (yours truly included) will watch to see if he scores a TD THIS week.
That'll never happen.

I do like to watch football. I watched the entire Eagles/Pats game last night without a single player for or against in any of my leagues going last night. Considering I have no allegiance to either team and have no players going for or against in any league I am just very unmotivated to watch the game. I just don't see anything other than a blow out. And what's funny is that I was thinking the same thing last night and almost turned it off when the Pats hit the Jets with a pick/6. But I hung in for a bit and watched a terrific game. I just don't see it happening again tonight. I think I will catch up on some DVR after the 1st quarter if it's as the suck as I expect it to be....

You're so cute. I don't even post here that often and I see a lot of the same drivel every single day. And I certainly don't go starting threads about every thought that comes into my head like some other posters I know.Tell me I'm wrong.

My fantasy matchups are all decided, and the Flyers are on. I usually watch MNF regardless of the matchup, but probably not this one (until the hockey game is over.)

The Phish are dead last in defending the run and after the loss to the Jets last week I bet Pittsburgh comes out running the ball. Parker will get 200 yards and 2 TDs at least. I'm playing against Heath Miller in a PPR league (10 yards=2 points, 1 catch=1 point). I'm hoping he doesn't go above 21 points-that's why I'm watching!

He has two touchdowns in 10 games and you're predicting that he is going to double that in one night. That's more realistic then my prediction of 120 yds and no TD's? Okey dokey.

:goodposting: I only need a so/so night from Ben and also have the Steeler "D". I don't like the idea of a sloppy field though.

I need a HUGE night from the Steelers D in one of my leagues, and I am up by 9 in another going against Jeff Reed. Basically, a low scoring shutout with a few turnovers and a defensive TD will do!!!

Ironic then that evertime I see you've made a post in a Steeler or FWP thread I already know the content before reading it.

"Low scoring shutout"....now that's redundant. End of the FF year mental overload. My bad.

I'm up by 4 and have FWP and Reed going tonight. My opponent has PIT D. Obviously would love to see both FWP and the Fins score a couple of times....

Heard Ricky has had great moves and speed in practice so I want to see him play.
Don't get your hopes up. It's been raining steadily since last night and they just put new sod down after the Pitt game on Saturday. I have a feeling that the footing is going to be pretty bad.

I have Big Ben, Ward, and Miller. Playing the Trio has worked to my advantage for the most part but I'm not expecting a big night, especially with the weather. I should have started Palmer this week. Hope I'm wrong. I will be watching it for sure, I would be watching it even if I didn't have players involved. I'm interested to see how Ricky does.

You watch it because it's Monday Night Football and in 6 more games (monday night games) there won't be any for another year.It doesn't have any meaning? It has a lot more meaning than any preseason game and there's all kind of excitement on the boards to see how some of those players will do, even if it's only a half of football.I'm looking forward to seeing if Miami can win their first game of the year.I'd like to see if Pittsburgh's on the decline since they lost to the Jets (Jets looked awful vs. Dallas)I want to see how many yards Willie Parker will get because ADP will be back soon which should make for a close rushing title down the stretch.I just love watching football outdoors.

This game has one of the most intriquing match-ups of the season: Big Ben versus the stingy Miami Pass D. The Dolphins only give up 181 yards a game through the air, third best in the NFL.

Nobody should expect Ben to have any success against the tough Fins secondary, but it will be interesting to see him try.

Isn't part of the reason they give up so few yards in the air because they give up so many on the ground? No reason to pass if you can run.

:goodposting: It will also be rather interesting to see Ricky run for 150 yards vs a rather porous Pittsburgh run defense.

Kind of like the Vikes - good run D and bad pass D. Why run when you can throw. In the Dolphins case, why pass when you can run on them.

 Sometimes these rankings don't mean as much as they first appear. In any case I don't see the Steelers throwing much tonight unles they have to. The weather is downright nasty in Pittsburgh today and Heinz Field is going to be a slow track. If you can get 16 pts and the 'fins I would take it.

I need to watch, because that's when my Big Ben voodoo doll is most effective. I need him to be not so good tonite.
