Why would Gruden possibly return to coaching? (1 Viewer)

🤔 I wouldn't call their division tough.
KC and LAC are tough. Arguably the number one offense in the game with KC, and what could be, when healthy and they are right now, the best defense in the game this year considering it's such a scoring era we're in?

I mean LAC just held Joe and Cincinnati to 13 and KC to 23, if I'm not mistaken. That's a great average of points against, never mind it came against Kid Wunderkind and the MVP/Super Bowl winner Mahomes and co. Nobody held these guys to anywhere less than 35, and that was in the playoffs. LAC almost just flat beat KC.

Ya of course KC is good.  But Denver is awful and I think you're overrating the Chargers a bit.  Don't see them making the playoffs.

No worries -- but I still don't get the point. Gruden took his last Raider team to the SB (and the previous two teams before that to the AFCC and AFCD) -- both those teams were far better than the one we have today.
I just meant it’s coming together. He came back to coaching & his team is getting better and better. That was my only point.

But if they win? Man, that could be the gasoline on last week's fire that truly sparks this team.
I think they can win. Losing Ruggs hurts their chances at that. Still possible. Pats are beatable. Even at home. I’m not sure I’d bet it,  but I certainly am not writing it off.

and man I’d love to see it.

No Ruggs.   Waller and Jacobs dinged.   Oline missing 2 starters.  Early game on East Coast.  Young defense missing its best LB.   NE wins this one by 2 TDs.   It’s a long season.   The Raiders need to get healthy if they stand any chance to squeak into the playoffs this season.

Jon Gruden will call plays Thursday night against the Chargers with offensive coordinator Greg Olson dealing with COVID-related issues.

It's not clear whether Olson tested positive for COVID-19, but he won't be at Thursday night's game. Gruden will take over as the Raiders' offensive play caller. Hopefully he'll be able to keep his mask on in this one.

Gruden being "targeted" by the Rams.

does anyone think there's any chance of this happening?

As it is, he can be 100% correct every week. Every single week he's a winner. Every week he's a genius.

he gets paid really well, and his decisions are never questioned. He gets to benefit from 20-20 hindsight every week, and he's never questioned for any decision, ever.

what possible incentive would he have to return to coaching?

Competition and the chance (even if long) for glory. #YOLO
