Will any Boras clients sign? (1 Viewer)

The Rays today walked away from their first-round choice, LeVon Washington...and he was the 30th pick. Those guys usually sign.

Strausberg seems unlikely and none of the other 3 first-rounders have put pen to paper.

I'll put the O/U on 1.5

I really think he's trying to blow up the current system and exploiting these kids in the process.
That's exactly what he is doing. I'm not sure if this is good or bad but so many baseball 1st rounders fail it's hard to think they are going to move the system much. One interesting thing is that if Strausberg doesn't sign, the Nats get the 1st two picks next year with the Padres likely picking third. The Nats would need a waiver to draft Strausberg signed by him which obviously he wouldn't do.

I really don't get Washington not signing. I doubt most here know who he is, but he's not exactly considered an uber, top-10 prospect (some projections had him in rd 2/3), apparently can't get into Florida (so he has to go JUCO) and is walking away from at least a mil up front and maybe more. And chances are so-so at best he'll ever be picked this high again.

Insane. Who can walk away from that kind of dough?

And given the fire sale in San Diego it's hard to imagine what they would offer.

It's only going to take a few of these kids to decline and either flop or get injured for the future prospects to take reasonable money. Boras is a greedy pig but he must be one helluva salesman.

Depends on if Strasburg is willing to actually sit out multiple years, because it's not like the Pirates or Padres are going to completely break the bank to sign him if he goes back into the draft next year.

Strasburg will sign because it's not going to be worth the risk turning down money that'll end up over $15 million.

I'm sure most of them will get done tonight. In fact, the rumors are both Donovan Tate and Jacob Turner have been done but they are over slot and MLB is holding out on announcing it so they don't influence other signings.

I'll be surprised if Strasburg doesn't get done tonight. It makes no sense for either side to not do a deal.

Guess -- Strasburg will get $21 million. ESPN indicated the offer to date was $12.5 million. Boras wants to double what Mark Prior got.

Why all the hostility towards Boras? He's just trying to get the best contracts for his clients. Seems like he's done that pretty well.

good deal for the nats. boras held out all that time for $5m more than the record high?
Boras played his usual game, but I guarantee the Strasburg family told him way back when they hired him, do and say whatever you want but on August 17, freakin' SIGN. Regular people like to get paid.
