Will Brandon Jacobs steal carries back from A.Bradshaw? (1 Viewer)

Anybody else out there think that Jacobs steals some carries back from A.Bradshaw? Towards the end of last year when Bradshaw was putting the ball on the ground coach Coughlin was on record as saying he should have played Jacobs more. When Jacobs was on the field he averaged 5.6 ypc. I for one think there is a real chance that the rb spot in NY becomes more of a 50/50 split than it has been in the last year.

Not out of the question that Jacobs ends the season with 1,000 yds and 11td's?

Its been commonly stated by the team that they envision a more even split of carries. I would think Jacobs would have quite a bit more value than he did last year and it would, you would think, cut into Bradshaw.

200 carries 1000 total yds 10 TDs is my prediction. A great ADP steal!

He had 872 yds and 9 TDs last year in only 147 carries.

I think it'll be a true RBBC, meaning a week-to-week nightmare for owners. I am staying away unless I can get Jacobs as a RB4.

Jacobs in the 10th is worth more than Bradshaw in the 3rd. I was all in on Bradshaw last year because you could get him in the 8th round. This year, a 3rd rounder is just too much for him.

I agree with this unless its a PPR league where Bradshaw is head and shoulders ahead of Jacobs.

That is true. Still, 3rd round is a lot for Bradshaw to me. I'd want him to be a top 15 back if I'm grabbing him there. Don't know if he'll get that this year.

He wont steal anything from Brashaw, he will have the carries that were his to begin with.

Its a time share and as long as Jacobs is there it will be, Coughlin recognizes Bradshaw is the talent but he isnt gonna ignore what Jacobs can do.

Jacobs is 50 in the hole in PPR leagues plus receiving yds, so maybe as much as 100 points. I like Jacobs a lot but think anything more lofty than say 800/10TD is reaching a bit.

so what do you predict for bradshaw?
60/40 split in favor of AB IMO barring injury
Well, last year Jacobs was 147/823/9 and Bradshaw was 276/1235/8 (35/65 in terms of carries), so you're essentially predicting more of the same. I dunno, based on last year's effectiveness, the preseason usage and effectiveness, and Coughlin's statements, I don't see why it wouldn't be closer to 200 (Jacobs) to 220 (Bradshaw) (like a 48/52 split). That just seems best for both these guys, especially considering neither one is clearly more effective than the other at this point and they both seem to get dinged alot with increased usage. The nightmare scenario would be if Jacobs became the preferred goalline/short yardage option with that many carries.

Agreed. Last year I targeted Bradshaw in every draft and avoided Jacobs. This year, I'm letting everyone else draft Bradshaw too early and am targetting Jacobs late as a backup rb.

Don't trust the ADPs you've been reading. He went at the top of the 7th in my 12 team, non-ppr league last night.

this is exactly what i've done. BJ could be a draft day steal.

Got them both. Bradshaw at 3.12 and Jacobs at 8.01. Really needed a good #2 RB so even at 3.12 I don't feel bad about it b/c of what would have been left for me at 5.12.

They are my #2 and #3 RBs and I'll just start them both in the bye for my #1. With that OL and the run-based offense I like it.

Had Bradshaw last year and wished all season that I had both. I'm thrilled to get both. If either goes down now I have a beast on my hands.

Yea, I think the secrets out. I see his ADP rising. Still a deal in the 8th. Earlier is cutting it close since you could have some good WR's in the 6th and 7th.

I agree...on both sides. Jacobs went in the early 7th in my 10-team league, and Bradshaw dropped to the mid-5th.That tilted the field back to Bradshaw, IMO.

Bradshaw in the 5th I'd go for. 3rd round is where I balk at grabbing him.

What he saidJacobs is huge and a beast. He is oh so useful to wear down a defense or to get some hard-nosed yardage. At no point has it been that Tiki, Ward, or Ahmad couldn't get the hard yardarge, but why should Coughlin/Gilbride bother with Jacobs around?Jacobs is getting older and time will slowly end his career like all RBs. I have been noticing what I think is his body taking longer to heal from typical injuries, some of which he used to play through. He's lasted longer than any big RB I can remember that was used in a similar fashion. Bam Morris was done so very quickly. They really do some difficult work and take a beating. The Giants have been one of the top running teams ever since they drafted Jacobs and will probably have an adjustment period when he's retired. He's one of the most useful backs in the league, it's just not the way most seem to think about him.I imagine he still has a few years in him. For much of last season he was averaging nearly 6 yard per carry which is astronomical for a guy his size. There's zero evidence and zero reason for Coughlin/Gilbride to NOT use him. Ahmad fans don't realize how valuable he is to Ahmad or the team if they root for Jacobs to only get a couple handoffs a game. The Giants were unstoppable running the ball four? years ago. It was a very predictable system with Jacobs getting much of the carries in the first quarter. Ward and Jacobs in the second. Ward in the third and then Bradshaw ran all over a tired defense in the fourth quarter. They couldn't keep up with Bradshaw and he looked like a superstar. People started calling for Bradshaw to be their starter and that was a little premature. That was one of the best systems I've ever seen. They also had found a reason to excite their linemen for the fourth Q and they were terrific then as well. Surely, normally they're worn down and tired too. That was a long time ago. The line isn't the same. Ward is long gone. Jacobs isn't as young. Much has changed. In Jacksonville, James Stewart was utilized and Fred Taylor shook the "fragile freddy" label and I believe he set a record for consecutive 100 yard games in a row. Coughlin is not your RBBC headache for FF but the one(?) coach that uses it extremely well. He's got a good history of doing that. Don't bank on Ahmad to get all the carries, but I wouldn't worry either.

I feel almost exactly the same as you and agree fully with this post. I grabbed bradshaw with my 2nd pick in a 14 team league, I was first pick so kinda happy to see him still there. The other RB that I was debating between was Blount. I may regret that choice later but we'll see. When Jacobs was still available and my other best RB option was Hightower, I took jacobs. I am not sure if I created a nightmare for myself or not but Jacobs looked really good in preseason.I had Bradshaw last year and still think he'll be the better of the two but it will be closer this year.

I prefer Blount because of situation and health. Blount hasn't shown any signs of nagging injuries where Bradshaw has in the past. Blount's situation is fantastic. He's the only guy there so he will get a bulk of the carries plus they are working on getting him in the passing game as well. I really like Blount this year. I'm hoping he'll fall to his ADP of the 3rd round right now (10 teams).

I have to admit, it was probably a homer decision. Blount won me the title last year. I just went with a more consistent choice IMHO. After seeing ernest Graham disappear after a stud year, something about TB scared me. They should start showing consistency now with Freeman but I made my choice and will live with it.

Can't blame you. I usually overthink things with Eagle players like DJax and Maclin. I just see Blount being the hidden gem of the draft this year. The Arian Foster or Michael Turner for 2011. Bold prediction but its what my gut tells me.

You could be very right....I took a chance on turner his first year with the Falcons....I could see Blount being just that. As an aside, I refuse to have any eagles on my squad :football:

Lol, well you're missing out then. They have a lot of gamechangers. I used to never draft cowboys. I got over that when I lost to someone who didn't have that issue in the playoffs.
