Giambi was supposed to play in August when he went on the DL, but there has not been much info about his foot injury. Does anyonehave any intel on if Giambi will play this year?

I dropped him when some guy answering questions on the Yankees homepage said "It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't play any more this year."

I kjnow they removed the protective boot and he was scheduled for an MRI but that is all I know. I have him on my DL but am not sure of I will keep him or not. If he is back in September he is worth holding onto in that lineup

On the topic of first basemen, Cashman also said that Jason Giambi (torn left plantar fascia) could be looking at an early August return as he continues to work out at the Yankees' Legends Field training facility in Tampa, Fla.Giambi is actually ahead of Doug Mientkiewicz (broken right wrist), who believed he might return in early August but is considered more likely to have a mid-August target date.
