Will Jimmy Johnson coach again in the near future? (1 Viewer)

comfortably numb

I have always been surprised to see JJ stay off the sidelines this long.

Has he straight out said he will no longer return?

Is he having too much fun/making too much $$ on Fox?

I would like to see what he could do with another franchise.

Anyone have the word on JJ?

He's said in the past he has no plans on returning to the sidelines. He likes being out on the water, boating, fishing, scuba diving. He wouldn't be able to do those things if he returns to coaching.

If i remember correctly, he turned down a coaching position a couple of years ago that would of paid him a lot of money.

coaching takes up their entire lives, there is no time for anything else. Jimmy has pretty much done what he wanted to do and the time in Miami probably just burnt him out. I would say he's absolutely done with coaching.

He walked out while on top (champion).

Why would he come back to take over a crappy team?

It would only diminish his record and "legend."

He's still involved with football by commentating. This job is only for 6 months of the year and he gets a 6 figure income to do it.

The other 6 months he can live life like it's meant to be lived.

He coached the Dolphins in the 90's not the 70's

He lived off the Hershal Walker trade that gave the Cowboys 3 superbowls. Anyone remember how Switzer won a championship with that team. Jerry Jones proved it was not Johnson. Johnson solidified that proof when he tried to win with Miami and couldn't. Then he quickly bailed and said it was for other reasons other than the real one: He is way overrated.

Yup, I was wrong. He did coach after leading the Cowboys to the championship.

And just like I said, why would he come back to take over a crappy team? To diminish his record and legend. I guess he did just that. D'oh.

Should have stayed retired.

Somebody traded 3 Super Bowls for Hershel Walker?!

1. He is not that young. I think he is at least 60 at this point.

2. He ran Don Shula out of town because Miami was his "dream job"...because he likes to scuba, play golf, fish, all that stuff.

3. Won a National Championship, 2 SB, had his "dream" job...probably going to miss the HoF though.
