Will LT break down this year? (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
I have LT in my main league and I have a gut feeling he is going to break down again towards the playoff season from the abuse on his body. Watching his last couple of games his legs seem to be taking some good shots.

The last couple of years LT has been nicked in the latter part of the year from all the wear and tear he gets. I was hoping that Turner would ease the load on him a bit but it seems the Chargers are using him more than ever.

Will he make through 16 healthy?

Yes, he will.

Be glad that he is racking up huge numbers of TDs and battling IND for homefield.....I don't see him sitting with this historic TD pace happening.

If you are worried about LT, you must be ultra-worried about LJ. Herm is running him to the ground. LJ's tenure as a top 5 RB is going to be real short at this rate.

I don't get it. Break down? Again?

Here are his numbers from the last games of the season.

Last year was his ONLY year where he disapeared.

Weeks 13-16 in Point per reception leagues

05: 16, 8.5, 12.5, 9.5

04: 30, 25, 23.6, 34.5

03: 23.3, 44.6, 42.5, 27.9

02: 56.1, 17.9, 21.3, 24.7

Can we STOP saying: "The last few years LT has vanished in the last 4-5 games of the season"

Do you have the stats for weeks 14-16 of last year. I swore LT had some injury problems.

I was fortunate enough to have LT last yr as well and I believe he fell off late in the year when some Raiders LB allegedly punched him in the ribs at the bottom of the pile. He had rib problems for awhile after that & never really seemed to recover (note to McGahee owners).

I chalk his drop in production last year up to a freak injury and not to being unable to handle the workload. Look at his touches and hits he takes this year (as opposed to LJ). This amazing production is coming with incredible efficiency (in terms of touches), plus he has a Barry Sanders way about him that helps him to avoid a lot of huge direct hits. So to me, all indications are that he should be just fine short of some 'freak' incident again. Plus, he's a 'quality guy', that puts his job 1st and will always put himself in the best position to succeed.

Shick's post doesn't make me feel better about my Turner investment.
Sorry. Would you feel better if I told you that you look mahvelous today? What can I say? I'm a feel good sort of guy. I couldn't live with myself if I thought I ruined someone's day.

He had broken ribs last year. What's the point of this thread? To speculate about an injury? Lame.

This topic sucks. Why can't everyone just be content with the way LT is playing?

He was injured. There's nothing about not being able to handle the workload. As soon as he was injured, he was a different player. It was frustrating but that's the nature of RBs. They really should have sat him a couple of games to let him recover.

LT's stats in the playoffs last year:

Playoff Week 1 MIA 7.50 LaDainian Tomlinson 75 total yards rushing (7.50 pts)

Playoff Week 2 @IND 8.50 LaDainian Tomlinson 76 total yards rushing (7.60 pts)

LaDainian Tomlinson 9 yards receiving (0.90 pts)

Playoff Week 3 @KAN 6.70 LaDainian Tomlinson 49 total yards rushing (4.90 pts)

LaDainian Tomlinson 18 yards receiving (1.80 pts)

Now, I see no reason to think he'll slack off this year, but he certainly did kill some people (myself included) in the playoffs last year, almost certainly because of his injury.

I had LT for one of his dinged seasons. I think he had a toe injury or something. He looks 100% now and I wouldn't expect him to break down at all. In fact, he looks quicker than I remember him looking in a long time. I would be shocked if he doesn't set the TD record this year.

He didn't do great for me last year in the playoffs, but I don't complain. He's LT. Every now and then there will be a week or two where he doesn't put up 30. So be it. He's gotten me into the mix for the title every year I've had him, and it's usually other players that kill it for me.

Having said that I find the first poster's thoughts interesting. While watching the game last night I couldn't help but notice how good LT was at NOT taking a big hit. It looked to me like he made missing that big hit a part of his moves on the field.

:goodposting: I was about to post the same thing. He bounces to the outside perfectly, looking for a DB to hit instead of a LB. I have not seen many fly over the pile runs and more to the corners.

LT had a lingering grion injury in 2004 which bothered him off & on. That's the year Jesses Chatman made all of his noise.

LT had a case of knuckled ribs last year towards the end of the season.

That's it for LT's injury history, as far as I can recall.

"LT getting dinged and not being reliable for the fantasy playoffs" is a huge myth. I guess it's one of those things that people keep hearing and assume it's true.

Look up his numbers on PFR, it's not hard. I posted this before in another thread and that guy was :moneybag: the last 4-5 weeks of the season every year except last year.

he didn't have broken ribs last year.

it was a deep bruise in his ribs, he was very vague about it the whole time.

after the season he revealed the reason he was vague was because it was an Oakland Raider at the bottom of a pile in Week 13 that punched him in his ribs and taking the pounding every week, he couldn't recover. He refused to sit because they were in a playoff race at the time.

the brutal thing about that was all of us who handcuffed Turner to LT were up the creek on this one cause LT wouldn't sit so LT wasn't effective, neither was Turner since he had limited touches. If LT would have sat one week, then we could have had Turner for one week, then a recovered LT for the rest.

fortunately, the NFL doesn't look at what's best for fantasy football.

other than last year, the posts of LT not being 100% during fantasy playoffs are exaggerated. he may have just been slowed down by teams, but nothing due to injuries.

Yes, you are right! Trade him for whatever you can get. I don't think you will get much because everyone feels the same way you do.Why would you even post this??

Clearly he is declining. Sure he had an OK game in 2003 but in 2004 he dropped off to only 176 total yads and 2 tds. 2005 was only 95 and a TD. Everyone knows that he should be getting over 200 yds and 4 TDs every week. Trade him for whatever you can get as soon as possible. ;)Seriously, if it worries you then trade him (if you don't have a trading deadline). I can't find a trade worth while. In the league where I have LT, McNabb and and KJ just got hurt. I'll hold onto LT but also have Rivers in case they pull a 2001 on me (pass, pass, pass).

This is exactly correct my friend.....LT was NOT wearing a flight jacket to protect the ribs and Danny Clark of the raiders punched him in the ribs at the bottom of a huge pile and I think LT rib was cracked or maybe just real bruised....Whatever it was this is the only reason for his slow in 05.....Gotta love to see that extra padding he wears this year......LT wont be stopped in 2006....Bet on it!

This is a very silly question. Injuries can happen in the NFL at any time with little or no predictibility, absent a recurring type of problem.

At present, LT looks to be healthier and quicker than he has in a long time.

Go back and rewind the 51 yard TD slant pass to LT vs Denver. Champ Bailey gets a lot of props for his coverageability and quickness/speed to play the top WR's man-to-man. Watch LT catch the ball turn on the jets and leave Mr. Bailey (who was about even with LT when he caught the ball) in the dust.

Anyone have the numbers on his touches this year vs previous years? He doesn't seem to be getting as many touches as in the past.

It finally happened. Looks like LT may be out for my SuperBowl next week. :hot: :hot:

Friggen Marty!!

You're getting way ahead of yourself.Besides, even if he's out this isn't exactly a case of "breaking down". I doubt there's much correlation between total carries and jaw injuries.

There is zero information about LT being out for next week. Odds are he'll play and be effective even with the jaw injury.
