Pro Bowl running back Willie Parker, who did not play in the first two preseason games because of a knee injury, will play Saturday night when the Steelers face the Washington Redskins in Landover, Md.

Parker, who missed 10 days of practice with an undisclosed knee injury, said last week he wanted to play against the Redskins but didn't think the coaching staff would use him in the game.

But Coach Mike Tomlin said today that Parker will play.

Steelers RB Parker Returns To Practice

Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - [Full Article]

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Willie Parker returned to practice on Thursday after missing nearly ten days with a swollen knee. "I'm all right; I'm not concerned," Parker said. "I overworked [the knee] a little bit, went too hard in the offseason, and, when I got here, my body slowed down because I went so hard. I was overdoing it on the practice field and I needed some rest, some preseason time, to get better."

I heard an interesting clip on the radio today: Parker said that his injury was never the knee, it was a muscle behind it. He said that sports reporters saw the ice wrapped around the knee area and just assumed it was his knee giving him problems.

He said that he's 100% and wants to get into this week's game to get hit by someone other than his team. He said he needs that in order to shake off the rust.
