Winslow signed by Patriots (1 Viewer)

should be an immediate add. He's a soldier.
Not enough to be a fantasy impact. I agree that its a solid signing by NE to replace Winslow, however it will do nothing for your fantasy team. Uptick in targets for Gronk, Lloyd, and Welker. Winslow will be lucky to have 2 catches a game.

Great low risk, high reward move by the Pats. Not sure it will pay off but this could work out very well. The word on Boston talk radio this morning is that Hernandez won't be the same player for the rest of the year if/when he comes back.

He's a talented player that just went to a perfect situation. Seems like a no-brainer pick-up. If he doesn't show something in the first few games he gets thrown back into the free agency list.

Great move by Belichick & company.

From an ankle sprain? sorry, but I vaguely remember being 22 years old and spraining an ankle and I'm gonna have to disagree on this one.

I guess the other question on this is "Does he stick around or is this a guy that gets cut in 3-4 weeks?"

The last Boston radio opinion I heard was what a great hire Bobby V. was for the Red Sox.

Here's an interesting quote from Seattle beat writer. I myself wa in the Groupthink camp of "He's done, his knees are shot" but this suggests otherwise. Seattle cut might have just been pure money thing?

It's kind of funny, actually, to think that a team could go from having too many to not enough targets with exactly two roster moves. After all, the Seahawks acquired Owens and Winslow on the premise that they were not risking much. If anything went sideways, they could always cut them. And that's just what Seattle did, and while the departure of Owens was not all that shocking considering he dropped as many passes as he caught in his two exhibition games, the release of Winslow was an out-of-the-blue shock. At least it was for anyone who has been watching practice. He was very involved with what Seattle was doing on offense. He was the receiving specialist in Seattle's two tight-end sets, and someone who gave Seattle's defense fits in practice. He is big enough to give defensive backs problems in coverage, and too precise a receiver to be covered by a linebacker. There was some thought he might end up leading the Seahawks in receptions in 2012, and now he's cut because Seattle felt tight end Evan Moore with 62 career receptions is an upgrade? Something about that equation will make you scratch your head until it bleeds.Maybe Anthony McCoy has progressed enough this August that he is past that brutal case of the dropsies that plagued him his first two years in the league. Maybe Miller's production last season was an aberration and he's going to catch 60-plus passes like he did in Oakland. And maybe, just maybe, Seattle let go a potential mainstay of the passing game by releasing Winslow.

I am a Hernandez owner looking for a TE fill in for 4-6 weeks.

Pitta is also available in my league. Do you throw a flyer on Winslow or grab Pitta since he is leading Baltimore in targets and yards.

Barich Im in the exact same spot. I have a trade offer out for the black unicorn a waiver in for Pitta and now I'm really considering shelving both and grabbing winslow. I think he could thrive in NE. Seems like an older but decent fill in for hernandez. Hell they even look alike

Has to be Pitta for previous two posters

I think Winslow can survive the cut when Hernandez comes back if he comes in with the right attitude - the guy can be a big help for the team - not sure he will be but he has the talent and appears healthy enough

If he can play, I agree 100%. I was surprised they didn't sign him when they worked him out. NE desperately needs to have a AHern move TE replacement on the roster given he's missed games in every season. They think they have that guy in 2013+ in Ballard, but they don't have him for 2012. KW2 could be that guy. When AHern comes back he has no value other than as handcuff.
