any inside scoop on this guy? asking on behalf of my prep work for my NL only league.
The Rockies beat reporter has mentioned him several times when asked if anybody is standing out or impressing in camp among the new pitchers. He's got a lot of life on his fastball and apparently developed a slider in the offseason. He's solidly in the mix for the #5 spot in the rotation right now, but that puts him in company with about 5 other guys.

Assuming the bottom turn doesn't show up and make a pick while still under 3ITC

29.20 Brandon Wood, post-post-hype sleeper
Post-post-post-post-post-post-post hype sleeper?I watched this guy a lot with the Pirates last year. He had flashes where he looked like he might be getting it. I think his upside is a guy who occasionally mashes a lefty. More Dan Evans than Cody Ross though.

Why not now?
We've actually been at a faster pace lately -- "two a day", right now, slows us down a bit. There's really only so fast a non-live draft can go. There comes a point where 3ITC and short clocks don't really speed things up. What tends to happen when we try to go super-fast is that the same half-dozen people draft through several rounds, while much of the draft ends up something like 6-8 picks behind. The "two a day" thing actually prevents the "same six guys drafting" scenario -- it's not actually a speed-up scheme, it's a brake.

We are almost in the 30th round and half the people have either been skipped the past couple rounds or are on autoskip for the rest of the draft. I can't imagine how 2 picks at a time, or 3ITC would actually slow things down.
