WIS 2012: Back to the Future II - Draft and Season Thread (5 Viewers)

Enjoying my rotation of Cain, Hamels, Marcum, Zimmerman rotation and a good number of my pen guys have started out strong. But its early and that all can change quickly.

Now if my guys would just hit!

do I get credit for Mitch Maier's pitching #s if he doesn't hit 25 IP but has enough PAs to qualify???

just curious because somewhere he seems to have gotten an IP.... and it was ok... lol

... Pineda is going to give up 40 HRs in Yankee Stadium (though he could still have a good WHIP and decent ERA, the sim will magnify his HR issues) ...
... As for Pineda's home runs allowed: his 2011 HR/9 rate actually dropped away from Safeco (9 HRs in 12 starts/77 IP at home, 9 HRs in 16 starts/94 IP away). Also, no Yankees pitcher has allowed more than 32 HRs in a season over the last five seasons -- even one starter who had a notable recent dumpster-fire campaign "only" allowed 31. Why would Pineda give up so many more? Allowing 40 HRs in a season has only been done 23 times in MLB history ... not seeing the stats that indicate Pineda will blow up that badly.
I think it's going to take Pineda some time to get used to pitching in Yankee Stadium. I do think he'll be fine in the long run but he pitches up in the zone a lot ...
All points moot, as Pineda is now out for the 2012 season. Several of my other SPs have stepped up huge, so I'm hoping for a surprise good season or two.Pineda seriously would have dropped to mid-draft or something like that (I took him at 3.21)? Didn't seem like anyone else was excited about him. Were his health issues known before spring training? .

I'm really hurting at SP (my bullpen isnt much better). I only have 15 starts so far.

The good. Gio, Luebke

The so-so. Vogelsong

The bad. Millwood, Aceves

The non-existent. Slowey, Baker, Cecil, Teheran

Think it was more the move to Yankee Stadium than injury concerns when we drafted.

That and his dropoff in the second half of 2011.

Yeah, for me, Safeco vs. Yankee III, you're talking about a few rounds' difference even for a healthy Pineda.

2 SP out for the year...

one that still hasn't made a start (mid-May? )

and Yo can't pitch to the Cardinals without getting hammered...

When people start getting serious about trades, I'm probably going to have extra SP's and gaping holes other places.

I would guess around the all-star break since it's so early in the season. Were there any trades last year during the season? I know it couldn't have been many. After the season is when trades were booming, before rosters got set for the sim.

I might have a surplus of good relievers and maybe a starter...which is good because I'll need at least one OF (especially one that can play CF).

I'll have centerfielders (I think I have 6 OF who get significant time in CF)...

I might also have some IF help, probably 1 or 2 guys...

They might not be the best, but they should be ok...

not that I'm trading for 5 months...

I'm sorry, I have to do this before these guys decline back into the crappy players they mostly are:

Rios .293/.341/.415

Jeter .385/.425/.567

Altuve .358/.404/.526

Votto .293/.443/.500

Ichiro .310/.331/.407

Ramos .271/.362/.376

Lawrie .276/.321/.398

Saunders .229/.304/.470

...and backup catchers extraordinaire:

Mathis .294/.429/.765

Kottaras .305/.515/.739

White Sox move Sale back to the pen to be the closer. The way WIS works (with the IP/G metric), i won't be able to use him as a starter at all most likely.

But it will stretch out his innings as a reliever. Not bad assuming you don't need the starts.
yeah, i guess there's value in that. but i was really looking forward to 25 starts at that level of production.

How many games before a player picks up WIS position eligibility? 5?

Young 7 @3B, GB fragile Beltre

Scutaro sitting at 2 SS games. Hurting at SS if Scutaro can't play there.

One appearance if you don't mind D-/D-
:hifive: As long as someone can play there, gotta think Scutaro will have a better rating than that at seasons end(fielding at least, range  )
He currently has 1 error in 11 SS chances. That'll be brutal in the sim.

Still early

Right-handed RP I drafted:

Out for season

Brian Wilson

Jose Ceda

On DL and yet to throw a pitch

Kyle Farnsworth

Scott Linebrink

Nick Masset

On DL with 7 IP

Jesse Crain

In minors

Peter Moylan

Healthy

Matt Albers

Overall my team looks pretty decent so far, but this could be a slight problem.
