WIS 2012: Back to the Future II - Draft and Season Thread (4 Viewers)

8.02 - Stephen Drew, SS

ARIZONA RUN! Supposed to be ready for spring training. Would love to get his 2010 stats, so that's what I'm using in the draft center.

Given that I went Lincecum, Greinke, Hudson I don't feel too terrible about this lineup. Maybe I'm cracked.

1. CF - Victorino

2. 2B - A.Hill

3. RF - C.Crawford

4. LF - Morrison

5. SS - S.Drew

Maybe some other guys with pop even get in there. Could be huge.

8.03 Mark Reynolds, 3B
Pretty sure he's all 1B, which is probably going to be a blessing for you. #40+homers
wilson betemit cannot handle the hot corner full time...
Reynolds is 1B full time though. Book it.
C. Davis, Andino, Betemit, Bell get to figure out 3B

Davis said he was not surprised that manager Buck Showalter decided during the offseason to turn third base back over to Mark Reynolds.

My bad. 40 errors it is then.

I was considering Reynolds. I don't know about putting him in Comerica though. Park effects aren't usually that big of a deal IMO, but Reynolds has particularly extreme numbers.

And of course I'm saying this right after drafting a speedy CF who likes to bunt and putting him in Wrigley.

Going to lunch...sent my list to oso. When he posts Tre's picks he can post mine too. :)
wait! your list is down to 1 guy
ruling from the commish? what do i do here? SCBF sent me a list with only 2 names - Ruiz and Stauffer, so i can't make his 8.01 pick. I do still have a valid list from TRE for the 8.02 pick.eta: sent PM to SCBF
Normally someone who is two picks away would send a four man list. If they sent a two man list a normal person would probably say if one or both are gone, skip and I'll get to it later. But SCBF Draft Killer would never think of this so his second pick is now OTC.
Wow, I sent a list ahead AND I left my number for texts with someone. Plus, both my picks were up within 15 minutes of my turn, and yet I still get labeled draft killer.Does that ever go away? ;)

Neftali Feliz P

High reward - hedged risk. The Rangers have done this well in the past, so hopefully the transition to the rotation goes well. If not and they pull the plug he should at least go back to be an upper level reliever.

I get the strange feeling that he'll be one half starter, one half reliever this year...which basically will make him Mark Eichhorn.Either way, you win.

decent to strong chance that you're better off with Feliz anyway. I just didn't want to take both Feliz and Sale, and be doubling down on that convert-to-starter meme.

As long as his arm isn't wrecked in the process...

Yeah, I think you'll be really happy with Holland though. He was great in the second half last year and was a solid #3 starter for me in B2TF-1.

Kelly Johnson, 2B
when i took Danny Espinosa at 6.08, i had 4 second basemen (Espinosa, Ackley, Walker, and KJ) rated fairly closely to each other. I thought i might be able to squeeze one back to me in the 7th, but decided not to take the risk. So, as it turned out, i could have had Scherzer/Johnson instead of Holland/Espinosa.Good value here. Nice job.

My plan was to wait and see when either Hill or Johnson went, then take the other. From what I've seen of them they're basically the same player.

Thanks for using my list. Still in meetings.

Ranger pitcher run !!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't get to say that often.

Interesting that Hill isnt in that group given his stellar D.

Hill's D has declined. I think as recently as maybe '09 he won a fielding bible award but he wasn't the same last season, in Toronto anyway... like so many others who look like they're knocking on death's door, he seemed to be rejeuvenated in Arizona.

You all flew today ... didn't think I'd make four picks over the holiday weekend (Pres Day + Mardi Gras).
