This doesn't account for guys like Berkman that will be hurt in the first month of the year.
:lmao: I'm guessing you don't like that pick. Given the Cardinals' luck so far this season, I wouldn't doubt it if you were right.
He has the history, but man, watching him for the Yanks, when he had a ton to play for, was painfulReally convinced me he was on the downside:shrug:
If you believe him, he was playing hurt last year. He has also dropped 20 lbs and turned down multi-year deals from other teams (A's) to find the right situation to prove he still has it. He says if he can't produce at the level he expects this season, he doesn't deserve a multi-year deal anyway. Doing and saying all the right things, just a matter of whether he has anything left in the tank. Don't need a return to his prime, but .375 OBP seems reasonable over 400 ABs. We'll see. He seems motivated and the line-up slot is right for a decent season.

I've always liked him, so I root for himAnd he definitely is better in this format

Same. Has always come off as one of the good guys to me. Agree very much on the INF sentiment, guys like Sizemore and Berkman are alright for this exercise, but I wouldn't touch them with a 1000 ft pole on my fantasy team this season if I can help it.

WIS MMXI: Back to the Future Edition

2 . 22 LB_44…. Victor Martinez C <---lot of DH and 1B for Vic I think...we'll see.

3 . 03 LB_44…. Rickie Weeks P <--typo

4 . 14 Greco…. Martin Prado 2B<--Uggla there, going to be LFer until Chipper dies again.

5 . 18 Bogart… Michael Young 3B <--Doubt he gets much 3B time at all. 1B/DH?

6 . 17 belljr… Chone Figgins 2B <--Going back to 3B
A list of players that I doubt will be much use at the positions listed on page 1. This doesn't account for guys like Berkman that will be hurt in the first month of the year.
Wait so now I have 2 3b's ?? crap...

what I've read about Martinez is he's the backup C (1-2 games/week)

and play DH in the majority of the rest of the games...I picked him 'cuz he'll be one of the best hitting catchers and he'll likely end up with the most PAs out of any Catchers in the league...
If that happens his defense will be BRUTAL in this. Not that it already wasn't going to be very bad since he's a terrible catcher.
20 games at C is enough that WIS won't pro-rate him too badly. It sounds like he'll get there. He'll probably have a noodle arm, but that probably would have happened even if he caught 140 games ;)

8.23 Cliff Pennington, 2B

8.24 Daric Barton, 1B

9.01 Tsuyoshi Nishioka, 2B

9.02 Carl Pavano, SP
Amazing turn... at this stage I don't expect to see 4 of my top 9 guys picked in a row like that.Amazing, of course, if you're not looking to draft those guys. :banned:
Pennington is actually a SS
:goodposting: Thought I could wait one more round to snag him.
well he's shoulder is still balky so I might have saved you

back in 30. will make arsenal's pick at that time (chemx is still otc right now)
I think I'm good to go Oso. Can't say enough about how much I appreciate you jumping in to help out.
no problem. glad you're doing fine.bonus: i can secretly root for a few guys on your team.fwiw, Headley was the top 3B on my list, though i was going pitcher. The best value on the board right now is easily at the catcher position. Too bad both of us already have a catcher.

Just so I'm clear I need to pick another 2b because Figgins won't be there?
That's the thing about this draft. There's nothing that says Figgins won't play enough games at 2B to garner a rating there, but the forecast for his time at 2B is not promising at this point. I'd certainly want a fall back option for the position.

I would bet good money that Young will have eligiblilty at 1B, 2B and 3B this year. OSB is going to do his best to make him happy and play him all over. His defense ratings might very well suck, but it gives me the chance to take some position fliers late in the draft.

At least that is what I am telling myself.

He'll get a defensive rating even if only plays one game at a position. The problem though is that ratings at low usage positions usually are terrible. Figgins09 played four games at 2B and one in the OF and has D-/D- and D/D+ respectively. This is even though bbref shows him w/ 0.0 innings and 0 chances in the OF.

Did a last-minute check of the latest news I could find fast ... don't see any immediate medical issues:

9.15 (207): SP Hudson, Tim

OK ... jokes on the FBB newb. I don't know the punchline: why did Juan Pierre and Tim Hudson fall so far? FWIW, the FBB mag I bought still has Pierre as a top-dozen 5x5 OF (though anyone that can steal a base gets an inordinate boost); but they HATE Tim Hudson (they think he'll be Radatz-on-Hoss'-team bad).

He looked really poor just standing out there in the OF. Maybe if he had his hands on his knees, into the game, it might have gotten bumped up into the C+/B- range. Look alive Chone!! The ball could be coming to you!!

The long-winded post expressing disbelief that player x fell this far when he was actually picked four rounds ago is awesome schtick.

The 21st century version of Gary Peters

Hoos' 5.22 was originally a skip, and I never updated my sheet when that pick was made up :wall: Repick coming.

But seriously ... Juan Pierre is still good, right? :D
