Yeah, I rolled the dice on him because of his bat. Hopefully he plays enough game there to get something a little better than the worst rating. He did end up with a B+ range rating last year...

Yeah, I know. But I'm willing to roll the dice here to get a 600-PA guy. I've always loved watching him as a player - you won't see many sweeter right-handed swings. Too bad the rest of his game is a sinkhole. I don't think he's worse than Manny (or Thome, or Papi, or Damon) at this point.

Yeah, I know. But I'm willing to roll the dice here to get a 600-PA guy. I've always loved watching him as a player - you won't see many sweeter right-handed swings. Too bad the rest of his game is a sinkhole. I don't think he's worse than Manny (or Thome, or Papi, or Damon) at this point.

He's like Zito in that it's impossible to separate him from his contract. The contract is worse than the ballplayer. Soriano has been pretty consistent in the things that he does and doesn't do.

I have him as available. I like him as a groundball guy but he just gives up too many hits. Even with a low HR/9 (12 in 200 innings last year), he could have a 1.5 WHIP and kill you anyway.But if he pitches like last year, then yes, he's a steal right here.

Both Pelfrey and Duensing have really low K rates, which makes them suck in 5x5 leagues. I think that may have caused them to slip.I was really hoping to get one or the other here.

Thanks for the feedback on Pelfrey, guys. Low K/9 rate is one of the things that can ultimately doom even superficially-successful big-league pitchers, according to Bill James.

Deffinetly feeling better about the pick now. I just wasn't sure if he was going to get the innings to be a viable starter. Feeling pretty good about my starters so far; Lincecum, Lester, Hughes, Lowe and Duensing.

at some point soon in this draft, teams may start using skips strategically, to hold off on a pick to gain more spring training info. (don't think that's happening yet) something for the commish to ponder.
