Of course. I'll let you know.Nips - please make note that TRE is still interested in The Big One when it happens. TIA. God Bless.
The Dude can be bribed with the promise of a future WIS Hockey leagueif I'm still in, I double vote for the use of a DH

this is certainly correct.in fact, I vote we do WIS hockey before baseball. The Dude can be bribed with the promise of a future WIS Hockey leagueif I'm still in, I double vote for the use of a DH![]()
I vote that this guy's in.If it ends up you guys need someone else to get in on this, I'm thinking I might be willing to give it a try.
My credentials are that I read the first WIS thread at FBG all the way through in the beginning, I own a copy of Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract, I've known who Old Hoss Radbourne was since I was a little kid, and I'm way smarter than LarryBoy.
Negatives would be that I've never used WIS. At all. I'm barely even sure what it is, so you'd kind of have to walk me through it. I've never done any kind of draft on FBG before, and I haven't read any of the draft threads at BBT, although I do have an account over there.
If you guys need another and I pass the test, let me know and I'll give it a shot.
It's definitely going somewhere. We're on five. The first four started out just like this. There will be a completed draft and a WIS season. I can promise you that. The ###### and jackasses problem though, that's a valid concern.FYI: I work for a living. From what I've seen thus far, this is going nowhere. Unless the tide tuirns asap. I'm out. I have no time for ####### or jackasses...consider me out...
I just signed up an account and an exhibition team, looks pretty cool.I vote that this guy's in.If it ends up you guys need someone else to get in on this, I'm thinking I might be willing to give it a try.

honestly, this is not at all unusual. over/under on meltdowns should be set at about 10 in this thread. bottom line, don't take much of this stuff too seriously and you'll be fine.FYI: I work for a living. Brilliant!Good news. If you pick a guy without a name, before the season starts they let you give him a name.

Go HERE and roll a 1000 sided dice one time. (no repeat rolls)... and send the results to supafat34@hotmail.com (along with a title that signifies that it is your roll).
Post your results in here and I'll add you onto the draft order in place of Nipsey.

52,416 (1937)
Dimensions
Left Field - 340 ft (104 m)
Left-Center - 365 ft (111 m)
Center Field - 440 ft (134 m)
Right-Center - 370 ft (113 m)
Right Field - 325 ft (99 m)
Backstop - 66 ft (20 m)
Corner of Michigan and Trumbell in Corktown in central Detroit I saw my first game there in 1977 when Mark Fidrych made one of his last major league starts against the Kansas City Royals. Unfortunately for the great wonder it is still standing, empty with the only fans being those who stop there to relieve themselves or buy a spot of crack. There is talk of finally knocking it down sometime next year and turning the area into condos and a Starbucks.![]()

What's really weird is that it looks like the names are cached in your computer if you used any of them before. It may have to do with my exhibition team being old, but on that one I still get all the real names. I signed up a new username though and I do get the names all messed up. I always though it was MLB's intention to alienate as many fans as possibleInterestingly there is a court case on this matter. From today's NY Times
I have to say if the MLB wins this case they are freaking morons. Limiting fantasy to 7 service providers is just a horrible, horrible business mistake.

Ugh. Anyone have experience with OOTP or some other sim engine that still uses real names? WIS is the only one I ever used, and I'm barely literate with that one.I like WIS, but a move to a new sim engine might accomplish a couple things:What's really weird is that it looks like the names are cached in your computer if you used any of them before. BTW if you click on the number besides their identifier, it takes you to their BBR page.
Just an FYI, but the new OOTP doesn't come out until May 31 and you have to import your own historical figures if you want to use them since they run into the same licsencing problems as WIS.I still don't understand how an entity owned by Fox, doesn't get to use player's names. 1.) give us real names
2.) even the field, especially for new guys, since none of us will know about the quirks of the new sim.
Besides the hassle, there are probably other deal breakers, but they aren't coming to me right now.
ETA-Just saw Sammy's post and changing the names seems like a reasonable option. Still wouldn't mind considering a new sim for reason #2 above, though.

It's pretty easy to use the Lahman database with OOTP though. The draft could be done using a master spreadsheet spun off from that db.I have OOTP 6 but haven't played it in awhile.Just an FYI, but the new OOTP doesn't come out until May 31 and you have to import your own historical figures if you want to use them since they run into the same licsencing problems as WIS.
