My credentials are that I read the first WIS thread at FBG all the way through in the beginning, I own a copy of Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract, I've known who Old Hoss Radbourne was since I was a little kid, and I'm way smarter than LarryBoy.
Negatives would be that I've never used WIS. At all. I'm barely even sure what it is, so you'd kind of have to walk me through it. I've never done any kind of draft on FBG before, and I haven't read any of the draft threads at BBT, although I do have an account over there.
If you guys need another and I pass the test, let me know and I'll give it a shot.

honestly, this is not at all unusual. over/under on meltdowns should be set at about 10 in this thread. bottom line, don't take much of this stuff too seriously and you'll be fine.

What's really weird is that it looks like the names are cached in your computer if you used any of them before. It may have to do with my exhibition team being old, but on that one I still get all the real names. I signed up a new username though and I do get the names all messed up. Really weird.
BTW if you click on the number besides their identifier, it takes you to their BBR page.

Ugh. Anyone have experience with OOTP or some other sim engine that still uses real names? WIS is the only one I ever used, and I'm barely literate with that one.I like WIS, but a move to a new sim engine might accomplish a couple things:
1.) give us real names
2.) even the field, especially for new guys, since none of us will know about the quirks of the new sim.
Besides the hassle, there are probably other deal breakers, but they aren't coming to me right now.
ETA-Just saw Sammy's post and changing the names seems like a reasonable option. Still wouldn't mind considering a new sim for reason #2 above, though.

Just an FYI, but the new OOTP doesn't come out until May 31 and you have to import your own historical figures if you want to use them since they run into the same licsencing problems as WIS.I still don't understand how an entity owned by Fox, doesn't get to use player's names. It has to be one of the most ###-backwards things I've ever seen. I can't reinterate enough how stupid MLB is.

It's pretty easy to use the Lahman database with OOTP though. The draft could be done using a master spreadsheet spun off from that db.I have OOTP 6 but haven't played it in awhile.
