WIS XV: Alphabet Soup with a side of Salary- Draft & Season Thread (1 Viewer)

T is shockingly thin fwiw.
Yep. I love Klu, and he has produced a lot for me in the past ... but I shoulda taken Joe Torre there. Even if Kluszewski hadn't fallen, there are enough good K's left.
Even with a couple of the players at my turn with SS, I didnt want to risk losing the overall good hitting, ok fielding big letter scarcity and pretty big position scarcity with Trammel.

Was Appling a bad pick? I am starting to wonder if I am tapped into a different player pool. I am not targeting the same stats as others, it seems.

Looking at your park compared to others, you are probably right. I think he was a fine pick. I burned my A ages ago, though.

When you look at all the HR friendly parks picked, a guy who slugs 389 isn't going to be on a lot of radars. He could fit with your park and philosophy. Or you could end up with a harrrrr team that leaves 15 guys on base in 2-1 losses.

That is a definite possibility.

Very good pick. Had him close to Trammel, both with scarce letters. Could argue that appling's better.

Same with me. Franco keeps telling me I'm making good picks so I figure I must be doing something right.

I was about to confess that I've got this whole thing planned out, but if Rob Lowe says otherwise...

teams I like so far:

Sparty - crushing it, even though I don't love Big mac

Tre - though I don't see how Verlander goes with Pfiester

Kubes - zigging where everyone zags

T-up - but let's see how the pitching ends up

teams with a good start:

Kraft

SCBF

Shake - though he may run out of letters

I think with the letters involved some teams 1st rounder could be some other teams 10th rounder. Just depends on how you want to use the letters, which is why this draft is different than most.

Not sold on Dazzy. Hartnett/Ruth are good, but I probably would have used Ott at 3B which makes Boggs less interesting. Still good letters left since you picked OV already.

It seems like nobody ever likes your team during/after the draft. Then they win.
This is true. Maybe 1 day everyone will realize my awesomeness. :excited:

Not sold on dazzy either, but went with a declining letter. Ott doesnt really have a good 3B year with the cap at 8M. Unless I wanted to punt D.

I'm probably playing Jim Thome at 3B. Shows what I think of defense over there.

I miss the days when Harrrr would underrate my teams then I'd win.
That dude really got undercut after one of WIS's big sim-engine overhauls. I think it was after WIS II.Still remember him getting away with that no-defense team in Sim I. At least until the Series.

Hmmmm ... I thought the death of Harrrr-ball more or less proved WIS teams needed defense to a significant extent. Or are you implying it''s not so imporant at the corners as it is up the middle (like real life)?

6.05 Rudy York

Likely to go with the limited PA as there are very few C's left outside of letters I want to hold onto with a full plate of appearances. Hopefully some of those HR's will turn into doubles in Polo. Plus, its a freaking 2/3's starter with the letter Y.

:sadbanana:jfranco probably looks at my lack of lefty pop and name pitching and laughs.
Seaver is kinda overrated in the sim. I like Foxx. I like Campy. I'm kind of on the fence about Kent. I do like Higuera.
