With a blowout evident against Tennessee (1 Viewer)

Gotta admit, I was thinking about this thread all that game. Crazy.

Thing is, though, it's a risky move that in most weeks just plain won't pay off. In this case, however, it was a great gamble for anyone who did it. Really makes those people seem like football geniuses. Just like anyone who started Rex Grossman for 4TDs over just about anyone.

I guarantee if he put up 0 points that no one would bump this thread nearly as hard as it will now that this crazy prediction worked out alright.

Aren't there a bunch of guys that need to step up to the buffet table and get themselves a nice steaming plate of crow? I love guys that shoot other predictions down and when proved wrong are no where to be found. Admitting one is wrong builds character and shows integrity. We could use some of that in this thread....

I fully admit I'm wrong. Still, Turner was a high-risk, high-reward play and most people who were down on the move weren't down on Turner's ability--if given the chance. Most were pointing out how rare blowouts are, and that the likelihood that he'd have a big day was much lower than that he'd do nothing. You predicted a hurricane and it magically happened. Most days it's easier to guess it's overcast or sunny.

Edited for clarity.

I admit there is no way I would have made this play if I owned both guys. Still, I give the guy credit for making an interesting, ballsy (and perhaps far-fetched) suggestion and it panning out perfectly.

I think a congratulations are in order for everyone who tried the move, but I still stand by my original stance. If San Diego played Tennessee all over again next week, I still wouldn't start Michael Turner. Two big reasons...First off, like I said in the other Turner thread, the only way Turner was going to have value is if he ripped off an 83 yard run. Now, it just so happened that he did get a ridiculous run (73 yards, iirc), and as a result had some solid fantasy value... but you can't predict that sort of thing. That was a total fluke, in my mind, and is not at all repeatable. And not only was the 73 yard run a fluke, but the blowout was also a fluke (even the best teams in the league cannot consistantly blow out the very worst teams in the league).I equate Michael Turner to buying a lottery ticket. You can argue that buying lottery tickets is a sound business decision, and go out and buy a lottery ticket. Even if you win, that still doesn't mean it's a sound business decision- although I doubt you'll care much one way or another, since you just won the lottery. If you really disagree with that stance... well then, I guess you must have been predicting that Mack Strong would have been a good fantasy play this week, too, right?
