With the mess that is becoming Indy (injuries)... (1 Viewer)

I drafted A Gonzalez late thinking I got a little bit of a steal. I thought, in a PPR no less, that I'd have a more than serviceable WR on a prolific offense. With the Saturday being out at least 6 weeks and and Peyton's knee, does Mr. Gonzalez's value drop? I'm thinking that it does but how much? Is he dropable?

Depends what role you're expecting to use him in. Some assumed that Harrison would be a shadow of his former self and thus projected AG as a top 30 WR. If you plan to use him as your WR3 you might be in trouble. If you have him as WR4 or WR5 his value changes little with the recent news.

No, he's not dropable. I think everyone's value on the entire offense is dropped just a bit, there's just too much uncertainty hanging over their team heading into the season. The loss of Saturday really bothers me coupled with Manning hasn't played much at all this preseason it's hard to ignore the red flashing lights hanging around this team. However, if there is one guy in the league I think COULD overcome such a tough situation it is Peyton Manning.Don't get too crazy, hang on to Gonzalez and see how the first couple weeks go for Indy and see where the dust settles before you drop anyone. Too many owners act irrationaly over heresay and do things they regret very early in the season.

Truth be told, Manning seems ready to go. Injuries happen during the course of the year and the Colts have been effective at incorporating rookies on both lines when necessary.

I wouldn't drop his value, but I was never that high on him in the first place. I still think Harrison will have a strong year, making Gonzo option #5 in Indy. Might be good for 600 yards and 5 TDs. Now if Harrison goes down, then he could be a 1000 yarder.

Personally I think Gonzo's "perceived value" was based on Harrison being out last year. If I look at the team; Wayne, Clark, Harrison, etc.....Gonzo is just to far down on the pecking order to provide a ton of value.

I agree with the above posts in regards to if he is your WR4 or WR5; but I am not a huge fan. I have him ranked in the 40s; but have snagged Galloway and Ginn to be my 4 and 5. I would target the following over Gonzo; Crayton, Reggie Brown, Kevin Walter and Vincent Jackson. I think Gonzo is more in keeping with a Reggie Williams type choice in terms of production and you could probably get Williams "cheaper" and he may outperform Gonzo.

Gonzo went in the 12th round in one of my leagues; I took Ginn in that same round.

I think that a weaker line benefits Harrison and hurts all other receivers a little. With less time to throw, Manning will rely more on his tried-and true receivers, and he knows Harrison better than anybody. Last year gave him time to get comfortable with other people, but if Harrison is healthy I think he sees a lot of passes going his way when they struggle to keep the pressure off.

Gonzalez is a great talent, but he's fighting with Clark for third option. If he steps back into the starting role that changes, obviously.

Harrison can be an excellant possession WR. Wayne will be intermediate to deep with Clark in a typical TE role. I don't see Gonzalez as getting many targets unless Harrison or Wayne go down.
