Witnessed Grand Slam, No-No, Perfect Game? (1 Viewer)

I saw the unthinkable in the same game.

Tigers vs Brewers in the early 80's a grand slam by Champ Summers and a triple play in the same game.

A 5-4-3 triple play.

1) I saw the only grand slam in All Star Game history. 1983 - Fred Lynn jacks it off Atlee hammaker at old Comiskey Park. I was in 7th grade, and a friend took me with to the game. It was great, because the AL had been TERRIBLE for many years, and then they pummeled the NL that night.

2) I was at "opening" opening day of Camden Yards in 1992. In law school in DC at the time, and my roommate had partial season tickets that year and he got lucky in a drawing.

Awesome stories guys. I'm jealous.

The only thing I have of merit is the final out ball from the Sept 2, 2001 Yankees/BoSox game at Fenway. It was the one hit game pitched by Mussina where Carl Everett broke up the no-hitter in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs.

The coolest thing is it's signed by the entire 2001 Yankees team (Clemens, Mussina, Pettitte, Jeter, Rivera, etc).

I saw Jose Canseco bounce a HR off his head.

I saw Joey Belle drill a heckling fan in the chest with a foul ball.

9/6/02. A meaningless 11-0 Pirates win over the Marlins. The Buccos hit two home runs that night, one by Kevin Young in the 4th. One by Jack Wilson in the 5th. We were in the front row of the bleachers at PNC Park. The KY homer landed a few rows behind us and rolled right down under my wifes seat and she picks it up. The next inning, Jack's HR is coming right at me. Caught it, one handed. Both are now signed and on the mantle.

I was at the Rangers game where Bo Jackson hit a line drive off of Nolan Ryan's head to start the game. Nolan stayed in an pitched 5 or 6 innings. He had to change his jersey every half inning b/c he was bleeding all over it and needed something like 15 stitches to close his lip afterwards.

I have a few friends that were at the Robin Ventura beat-down game. That would have been fun.

I was at this historic event

PINE TAR INCIDENT

Being in the stands with no broadcast info, we had no friggin idea what was going on. On reflection, what good would hiding the bat have been (unless it was also corked)? The bat was examined and a call made.

Grand slam...

Summer of 1996, I believe (might have been 95). Red Sox at A's. We were sitting front row in section 134 - The BBQ Terrace - about 15 feet in fair territory from the left-field foul pole...prime home run territory. The Sox lost 11-4 that day, but the Sox hit a grand slam (Mike Stanley IIRC) and one of the guys I was with caught the ball barehanded. Lots of Sox fans were in the bleachers that day and gave him a round of applause.

Here's the funny part: Walking into the game, we were talking about ever catching a ball at a game. I mentioned how I caught a batting practice HR by placing my wrists together, cupping my hands and once the ball made contact I clamped my hands around the ball. I was the only one who caught a ball in either batting practice or during a game. When this guy caught the ball, he did exactly what I explained ( :sarcasm: ). When he caught it, he let out a big OWWWWWW which was shown on the DiamondVision in slow-mo during replay.

Trot Nixon's gimpy ### hitting an inside the park home run at Fenway vs the Yankees in July 2005. In that same game Ortiz launched a Grand Slam that landed about 15 rows in front of me.

The Sox went on to beat the yankees 17-1.... for the second time that year.

I was at that game, too. Sat in grandstand behind home plate, slightly towards first base.

I was at a Yankee game in 1999 when they beat the Indians 21-1. That was pretty amusing. The sound they play in the stadium when the Yankees score got a bit annoying after a while.
