Hawt take

The NES version made by Tengen >>>> Arcade

The NES game was more like an RPG and had an ending.
That is hawt! And wrong. :boxing: :banned:

One of the first 4 player arcade games. Burned through many quarters on this game. Every once in a while I still use "Yellow Wizard needs food badly" or "Green Elf is about to die". No one remember the game...

q bert was pretty cool that little dude hoppin all over the joint and making snakes jump off a whack pyramid was dope as hell take that to the bank brohans

this was one of the greatest games of all time take that to the bank bromigos

Dragon's Lair and Gauntlet are all time greats for arcade consoles.
maybe it was the machine at the local arcade, but all that ever happened with that game or me was "plug $1 in, watch a short video, game over". i've never actually played it but hot damn did the graphics look amazing on that short video intro. always wondered what it would be like to play.

I would dump a roll of quarters into dragon's lair at the store regularly. We didn't have an Arcade, Dragon's Lair was in the back of the Ben Franklin store. That and Golden Tee at the Bowling alley.

"Dragon's Lair was in the back of the Ben Franklin store."

that is a mighty midwestern sentence

Saw Dragon's Lair in here and remembered back to when they installed it at the hockey rink and I just didn't want to waste a dollar that quickly. I never played it. Just watched. i remember how g0od I thought the graphics were.

But when I got older I would feed quarters into a different machine in the same rink. Rampage with Godzilla, King Kong, and some other monster destroying buildings. It was a bunch of fun for a teenager.

I feel like Dragon's Lair, Gauntlet and Street Fighter 2 all had huge pulls for my quarters. Each changed the arcade business.

Sure thing. I wasn’t very old and those were Mom’s dollars so they had better last. Only when I got older.

There was a convenience store on the way to school, and once I got my driver's license, I would stop there with a couple of friends to load up on junk food to start the day. There was a Dig Dug machine there, and a 'rivalry' of sorts developed between us and two guys who worked for home alarm company ADT and stopped there as well around the same time. Whichever group got there first got on the machine and usually monopolized it until leaving. Needless to say, they didn't like us and vice versa. The guy who usually played it the most was kind of stocky and tended to swear and rattle the machine when he lost a man. Needless to say, we referred to him as 'Dig Dug', though not to his face.

The one I was best at was probably Time Pilot (Asteroids ripoff but easier IMO), and I had love/hate relationships with the rest because I wasn't very good at them. Most memorable from my most active arcade days were Elevator Action, Crazy Climber, Scramble, and Front Line. There was also one I don't remember the name and can't find anything that matches what I remember. I think it was a B-1 bomber simulator, the screen was amber and I heard a rumor that it was pulled by orders of the DoD for being too realistic (:oldunsure:). My memory is probably fuzzy, but the amber screen sticks out clear as day.

When Street Fighter 2 came out, we would go to the local Round Table Pizza for lunch (off campus passes in HS were nice), get a slice and a drink for like $2,50 and pour a bunch of quarters into the machine and play. One guy was too good for us all, had all the moves down for Ken/Ryu.
