BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — A 47-year-old woman who allegedly pulled a gun on young children playing outside has been charged with six counts of assault.

Gwyneth Fay Hafstad, of Kendall, is being held in Whatcom County Jail on $100,000 bail.

Prosecutors in Whatcom County say she parked her SUV outside a neighbor's house on Aug. 28, and handed out chalk to four kids, ages 3, 5, 8 and 9, who were playing outside.

According to the charges, Hafstad then went to her SUV, grabbed a handgun and aimed it at the children from about 30 to 40 feet away.

Several people called police, including Hafstad. She called police to say she had been "surrounded."
