I have a Bosch handheld router (sometimes called a "laminate router"; Bosch calls it a "palm router") that is good enough for 90% of my woodworking needs.  I'm not exactly Ron Swanson or anything, but I've made some pretty big projects.  There have been times I wished I had a router table with a bigger motor available, but that's been pretty rare over the years  I use it for rounding edges, cutting profiles in trim pieces, dados.
