Words I Did Not Know That I Just Learned (1 Viewer)

Speaking of music, learned these over the airwaves:

Cavatation
Terpsichorean
Crepuscular
Petrichor

Edit: HTH to see the words in context, for instance:

And all the rest of whom for which
To whensonever of partially indeterminate
Bio-chemical degradation
Seek the path to the sudsy yellow nozzle
Of their foaming nocturnal
Parametric digital whole-wheat inter-faith
Geothermal terpsichorean ejectamenta
In Serious Leather, serious Chains

And,
Spit out the seeds
Gnaw on the pulp
Suck on the juice
And simmer the rinds
(Herbivorous, crepuscular)

If you're posting words you just learned, please provide definitions for the rest of us before you wind up a complaint during Festivus.

Defenestration - In case you ever feel like throwing someone out of a window, now you know the proper word for what you are planning to do.

Talking about this at my best friends fathers funeral.

His dad (Gene) used to brag that he could write full name while urinating, As high school / college kids we were always amazed at this, as we could not do it.

As we are all Gene's former age now, we all realized that the force of the stream is the secret, not the amount of beer drank.

Is there a word for this?

Pissant

hagiography - writing about saints, or, a book or passage designed to deify or idealize its subject

It was said that Bobby Knight never liked John Feinstein's book about him because it wasn't a hagiography; rather, it showed a side of Knight that was unflattering

Underrated word. I first and only time I've heard it used in is the movie Lucas.

If you're so upset, why are you going out for pizza?
My old HS friendly person, Courtney Smith's first movie. We all went to watch opening night and were super proud of her. Iirc, it was Wynina Ryder's first movie too, and I think she lived nearby.. she also had a pack of HS friends at the same showing and theater cheering her on.

(Just tried to find a synonym for "name-dropper", but struck out.)

Not much in the way there. You'd figure with words like triskaidekophobia that there would be a one-word synonym for the condition of dropping names, but alas, all we have is the cheeky little hyphen and the words "name-dropper."

You snoot.

Courtney never looked better, with the possible exception of Summer School a few years later. It was indeed Winona’s first role.
