When a thursday night game is played you can likely assume it will be an offensive suckfest for most players involved. I dread starting anyone on a thursday night game.
Oh, come on. TNF games have been lousy, but worse than the Pro Bowl??? Please. I'd rather watch the Chiefs and Browns play to a 3-3 tie than watch five minutes of the Pro Bowl.
I like this poll. The Thursday night games have been a trainwreck. As someone who eagerly looks forward to each week's games, I kind of let out a sigh when it is time for Thursday night matchup.
I've heard theories on rest and gameplanning, but to me it looks like often there is just a lack of execution. I think there has probably been one decent Thursday night game this year otherwise they have been
However, they aren't as bad as the pro bowls. Can't remember the last time I watched one.
Many teams have played poorly on TNF, but some of the games have been decent entertainment. The pro bowl has been a complete joke for over a decade. It's really not even close, IMHO.
I try to avoid playing players on Thursday nights. I benched Graham. Thursday nights stink. But Pro Bowls are worse. I play better football in my backyard in my family's Turkey Bowl.
There is not nearly enough data to support after one year that TNF has a huge effect on offenses vs defense.
Last time I checked the defense has as little amount of time to prepare for the offense they are facing.
Football is a different animal than most sports hence why they only play once a week. But these guys are professionals who get paid a lot of money and have been doing it their whole lives. If you can't have a good performance when you have a game on sunday and then have monday, tuesday and wednesday to prepare for a thursday game then take up something else.
I don't mind the thursday night games. It is another day of football.
