Worst bye week issue you'll have this year (1 Viewer)

Week 9-

I'll be without each of my top 4 WRs - Calvin, D Thomas, Nicks and Crabtree

Week 8-

I'll be without JJ Watt and Suggs.

Thet are spread out across so many weeks this year that it does appear rough, especially that week 8 and nine cluster where so many goof ff players are on the bye.

I am also curious what people's thoughts are on there being byes so late. Do CJ Spiller, Shady McCoy, AJ Green and Percy Harvin owners look at that week 12 bye and hope their playoff hopes don't rest on winning that game? I know a lot of the more generic fantasy schedules tend to push the important divisional games to the end for leagues that use divisions. You may be going into a divisional showdown carrying a knife to a gunfight.

Actually they aren't spread out that evenly at all. Week 4 are only 2 bye teams, same thing week 6, 7 and 11. That leaves 26 teams having byes in only 5 remaining possibilities - and as you said both weeks 8 and 9 have six teams off each! Some teams might have half of their roster out one of those weeks.

The only solution is a week 7 championship game. You'd hate to have to play those weeks without your "full" team. ;)

For one, it is REALLY stupid to have a team get a bye week 4 while another team gets a bye week 12. ANY team would clearly pick and benefit from a week 12 bye week.

Would it be so hard to do this. Give half the teams a bye in like week 9 and the other half week 10??

Then from a fantasy perspective, weeks 9 and 10 could be combined into "one fantasy week", so there would be no more bye weeks for fantasy at all.

Obviously the NFL wouldnt do anything based on fantasy football, doing all the bye weeks over a two week span makes sense for million reasons, then the logical fantasy step would be to combine the weeks like I mentioned.

Crisis averted.

I would actually prefer to have my entire team off on ONE bye week if possible. It would give you a better chance every other week. At least for head to head leagues it would make sense.

Not sure if the Skins would do that this year, and as a fan I'm VERY happy about a week 4 bye because of RG3. If he's not ready to go till week 5 - this way he'd only miss 3 games rather than 4.

Considering the benefit the entire team would get from a bye in week 12, I disagree. For all we know he will get some other injury along the way and you would then prefer a week 12 bye week. I mean, that's the not best argument against that, sorry.

But it doesn't make cents...or Dollars...to the NFL. The revenue loss would be enourmous. Several years ago the NFL had double bye weeks and the networks nearly mutinied because they had no quality games to air when the "star" teams were off. And that is before they had to divisde the pie between the sunday NIGHT game and the Thursday game. They spread it out thin now to ensure quality schedules in FIVE locations (thursday, MNF, SNF, 1pm/4pm). I will say, the schedule quality this year looks great so they met their mark there but fantasy, where NFL benefits far less in the bank account, it hurts.

I already had an idea for this, also. Two bye weeks. Make the regular season last 18 weeks, and give every team a 16 game schedule with two bye weeks.

One extra week for the NFL to make their money.

It isn't good for fantasy football purposes, but as you said, they dont care about that.

But I do disagree where you said there wouldnt be enough quality games. I think with 16 teams playing, they can find quality games for thursday, sunday night, and monday.

And it's not like all the night games NOW are quality or something anyway.

In one league this is gonna be a sucky Week 7: Ryan Matthews, Demaryius Thomas, Roddy White. I'll chalk that one up as a loss.

In my other league it's Week 11: Lynch and Peterson (luckily I have McCoy and Martin in that league as well)

Good news - D Thomas doesn't have a week 7 bye.
