Tebow and Orton standing side by side in the shotgun. Depending on the play that's called, either QB accepts the snap. If Orton, Tebow assumes blitz protect responsibility much like a RB and if Tebow - Orton stays out of the way. In my mind's eye, I was mulling over all of the possibilities and (on paper at least) this would create absolute chaos for a defense.

I think all you do is take away a capable blocker, runner or pass catcher every time Tebow takes the snap and D's will kill this immediately.

wouldn't work at all... just let tebow take all the snaps and replac orton with another blocker

This is a great point, you'd have zero protection for the passing Tebow.
Either that or you'd have the most inexperienced, most over-payed blitz pickup guy in the NFL.ETA: - Or you open yourself up to a situation where both of your QBs get injured on the same play - one doing something he has never done in his life. That won't sit well with fans.

Okay, so scariest QB environment imaginable. Thanks. That's all you guys had to say was scariest QB environment imaginable.

There's a position already established for the 'Tebow' role you describe. It's called 'Halfback'. ;)

No. That would imply that most halfbacks pass the ball as well as Tebow. Hell, half of them don't RUN as well as Tebow.

Fascinating stuff.

One thing about having 2 "QBs" in on a single play is that only one can have the earpiece to the coaches (i.e. green dot on the back of the helmet).

I'm not sure what implications there would be about receiving the plays but it might get confusing.

Right idea, wrong team. This needs to be tried with Vick & Young in Philly.

Ohhhh, you're right. That would pose an absolute nightmare for a defense.

Young with Vick one side, McCoy the other.

lol...I guess it could be kinda fun watching Orton throw blocks for Tebow. Oh what the hell John Fox give it a try.

Uh-oh, here comes Clay Matthews...

I wonder how much more punishment Vick would take when he is not afforded the protections that go with playing QB.

What about lining up Orton, Tebow and Quinn as a triple threat, one QB rolls out, if theres no one open he can lateral it across the field to one of the other 2 for a bomb! Maybe by that point Tebow has jogged downfield as another option. :excited: Maybe the Broncos are going to take the wildcat to the next level with a ton of trick plays etc... if they do Tebow will probably last about 2 games.

Newton and Tebow would be great, because they have the size and physicality to actually block or at least disrupt the passrush. You could bring option football back to the NFL.
