Removing money from the equation.

Would you rather be the best "Trivia Guy" you are Ken Jennings level of trivia nerd or be the best in the room always at your choice of one of these bar games: darts, pool, bowling.

Well?

trivia. hands down.

at least it shows some level of intellectual curiosity and depth of knowledge. it's more than just memorizing a single factoid out of the entire story.

darts, pool, bowling. you could be a completely empty-headed moron whose knowledge goes no farther than how to arc a dart or roll a ball.

give me wide-ranging, general knowledge and at least some curiosity about the world over the ability to repeatedly do the same thing over and over.

All my life, i've been looking to be so consumed by an art or skill that putting in my 10,000 hours would be an abiding glee (poker came the closest, i guess), but i've always been a 10-hours-at-1000-things kinda guy.

Point taken. It would be pretty awesome though to know you could roll a 280 (or whatever is considered awesome at bowling), run the table in pool at will, or do whatever it is that is considered amazing in darts.

while you make a solid argument, I would counter that the average dude has a better chance of getting laid by dominating a room playing 8 ball rather than knowing the capital of Kazakhstan   :grad:

Which is why we are here and not practicing in a bowling alley.

Back in my college years, I was dart board and pool guy. I had a zone - three to nine beers. Once I got in that zone, I was unstoppable at darts or pool. I won money, had girls throw their panties at me, drinks bought for me - you name it.

Never had that happen playing trivia.

i was there 990 hours ago. where were you?!

Off in the corner wasting my quarters playing video games. self-pleasuring.
*My excuse in edit*

In my corner, I never won money, but I have had some underwear thrown at me.

do you have bowling alleys without a bar in them?

what kind of special hell is that?
Yes, actually we do. We also have to go to special stores called “beer distributors” to buy beer. This special hell is called Pennsylvania.

Do you have bowling alleys in every bar? I may need to move.

Bar game for sure. Trivia is memorizing - who cares. Can you solve a problem?

Always being the best pool player in the bar would be awesome.

oh, i've heard of this.... Pennsylvania.

where i live you can't throw a kid without hitting a bar, liquor store or bowling alley. all bowling alleys have bars inside them. they serve beer, wine and booze.

all liquor stores also sell beer, booze and wine. as do most (all?) gas stations, grocery stores and you can probably buy moonshine at Best Buy if you have the right keyword.

this is going to blow your mind but i can even buy 6-packs of beer. or i can mix & match singles to build my own 6. or i can just buy a single can or bottle of beer. whether that be 12oz., 16oz, 22oz, 40oz or in some cases 64oz.

kegs, cases, 30-packs. it's a veritable paradise.

Yep.  That's how I survived in my early 20's and in debt up to my eyeballs.  But I was good enough at pool to own the table most of the night, drink all the beer I wanted, have dinner and maybe a few bucks extra...all for the initial cost of $1.25.

I know members of MADD might get mad at this,  but those standup driving games got easier after a couple of drinks. Then later I would hit the wall.

Gas station next to where I work (30' away) sells beer by the can, 24 oz Bud or Bud Light for $2 out the door.  16 oz Milwaukee's Best Ice for $1 OTD

Bowling Alley wine doesn't sound very good.

I'll play trivia with you and throw my boxers at you.  I'll even buy the beers.

Just cant help but feel for my situation, the darts, pool and/or bowling situation wouldnt occur enough to make it worth it. I have to take trivia nerd.

I lean trivia master as well. But then you could face the problem of just be the annoying guy who knows everything, constantly listening to people mess up facts/figures/historical dates, and the dude who wrecks Trivial Pursuit.

:lmao:

I grew up thinking those bizarre liquor laws were normal. Then I moved to Minnesota and was like, “oh I’m only restricted on sundays? That ain’t bad.”

Now I’m laughing at both.
