Would you trade Philip Rivers for Matthew Stafford? Playoff schedule is a factor for me (1 Viewer)

To this point I’m 6-0 and I have a pretty solid lineup. One issue I may have is my qb’s have tough playoff schedules. I have Carson Wentz who I will not be moving and I also have P.Rivers who I have an opportunity to deal for Matthew Stafford. On the surface this seems like a sideways move as the two are roughly equal, buy on paper it seems to me Stafford has a better playoff schedule.

Rivers playoff schedule is vs Wsh, @ KC, @NYJ

Stafford @TB, vs Chicago + vs Cinci

I’m concerned about that week 15 matchup Rivers has. Wentz faces the NYG in week 15.

q) Is it worth grabbing Stafford for his favorable playoff schedule?

q) Is Stafford's matchup vs the Bears in week 15 better than Rivers (who had 237 yards + 3 int’s vs KC this year) vs KC in week 15?

Thanks in advance. I WILL ANSWER YOURS!

Yes,  they are both ugly because of the int's but only because of the schedule I would favor Stafford.

I'm not convinced that Stafford has the better schedule.  Tampa has been missing several pieces (David/Alexander) of their defense early on, so they should be improved later in the year.  KC just got torched by Carr through the air, and remember what Watson did to them a few weeks ago?  That's not a scary matchup. I think Cincy is the toughest D out of those 6 you listed.

If you just prefer Stafford and he prefers Rivers, then sure make the trade.  But I see it as a wash.

The more I look at it i think you may have a point. KC’s defense is looking really bad right now. Beyond that Stafford doesn’t have elite weapons and Tate is out with a shoulder injury.

I am confused.  It seems like you have Wentz as your starter and will only be using this backup in one week (possibly).  I wouldn't play either Stafford or Rivers over Wentz regardless of matchup so this is just for depth sake.  If it is just for depth then I would evaluate based on which QB would I trust more if Wentz went down for the year?  That being the case I probably would go with Rivers.  He will always be chucking where Detroit seems to be trying to run a bit more.

That’s true. I was concerned with Wentz’s week 15 playoff matchup vs the Giants. The Giants have a solid pass defense. I was also concerned about Rivers going into KC in week 15. The Chiefs shut Rivers down early in the season in San Diego. I was thinking it might not be a bad solution to trade out for Stafford as he has a fairly easy playoff schedule and his week 15 matchup vs the Bears could be one to exploit...After seeing the Chiefs fall apart vs Oakland last night I’m starting to reconsider this strategy.

Chicago is actually the worst matchup of all of them. Chicago's defense is currently: 14th in passing yards, 8th is passing YPG, and tied for 9th in TDs allowed. KC and NYG are currently worse in all three categories.

Edit: And KC would still be worse in all three categories even if you ignore last night.
